Is the Falcons game a "must win"for Panthers?

I don't think it is but if we lose, the next game will be if we want to get a WC spot.

1-3 is a big hole to be in the NFC. So many good teams will be looking for that WC spot. Detroit/Green Bay/Chicago will most likely get a WC spot. That leaves just 1(assuming they don't take both), Giants/Cowboys/Eagles will be in contention for the other. Surprise teams like Arizona/Seattle could also be right there.

Unlike many on this board, I don't think Atlanta will blow us out. They are our divisional rivals and last year we were very much in both games. Not going to overreact to the Giants loss just like I didn't overreact to the Saints win.

Look at my avatar and user title. Do I honestly look like an optimistic rainbows and lollipops fan?

I just get sick of wimpy fans rolling over in submission and just saying "We're gonna get butt raped". Those are the kind of fans that make us look like pussies, and those are the kinda fans that make Falcon/Saint trolls get boners.

AT LEAST give a fugging explanation on why we will get beat soooo badly.

Because the Falcons are tearing it up and we are inconsistently good. We might show up, we might not. I'm not getting my hopes up, the odds are stacked at the moment.

WAIT....

Did I miss ATL beating the superbowl champion NY Giants? Oh no that's right they lost 23-2 last year in the playoffs.

ATL has only beat two scrub teams from the AFC fugging West LOL

Show your team some fugging support for once in your life.

I was optimistic all offseason, had every reason to. I was predicting at worst 9-7 if not 11-5. Then Week 1 rolled by and my expectations were rattled. I held true, though, sticking to my prediction. Then we beat the Saints*, and my hopes got up again. I thought the TB game was just one of those weird fluke games that happens sometimes. But then a similar showing against a battered NY brought me crashing down again. I'm not tanking the season quite yet but the Falcons are in a very good position to deliver a crushing curbstomp next weekend.

Let's face the truth...The Panthers was not going to beat the Gaints. The Giants are a way more mature and bounded team than the Panthers. No matter how batter they were Thursday night, their experience wasn't going to let them down.

I personally feel this team plays best when it's back is against the wall. I also feel that this team has a lot of growing up to do. When the leader of your team is a temper tantrum throwing receiver, that doesn't bode well for your team. Just ask the Jets. When you're playing for a team, you must leave your ego in the locker-room and know your role on the team.

I had high hopes for this team but there clearly seems to be alot of internal demons that needs to be exercised on this team before I can say with confident, this team can challenge any of the other more bounded teams.

We're already at the point of moral victories. I'd be happy to compete and play close with ATL. But honestly they're probably going to march down the field and score a TD on their opening drive just like every other team we've played has.

If we keep it close then maybe we're improving and I can tolerate that. If we get blown out the team will be polarized, Rivera will be on his way out, and this board will crash.

I think if this season is to be a success, we have to win in ATL. I think if we lose to ATL, that would be the finishing blow on their confidence and morale for this season. There might be a few more wins afterwards, but I don't think they'll have the maturity and spirit to pull off the important wins against the good teams if we lose again immediately following the pistol whipping by the Giants.
