Stupid Fan Mentalities

You all aruging back and forth when your team are the ones performing terribly is stupid

We went from contenders to the bottom. If that doesn't bother you at all, then I guess you're just content with just having a team

Where in my post do I say it doesn't bother me? But there should be a reasonable limit to how much you let something outside of your control impact your life. The Panthers lost in horrifying, embarrassing fashion. It sucked. But getting up here declaring ultimatums like "This team will always suck" and "Fire Rivera" and "Cam is a baby" and "Hurney is an idiot" and so on afterwards is just a sign of irrational behavior.First off, the loss wasn't as bad as it seemed; there were several drives that stalled because of the Panthers mistakes, not the Giants simply outclassing them. The worst problems on the defense are not impossible to fix: tackling (Rivera should run everyone through the ringer until they tackle their spouses in the sleep) and forcing Norman to stop playing so far off or move Munnerlyn back until he understands. But the Panthers aren't terrible and the real shame is a fanbase that implodes at seemingly every opportunity.

1) If you find the thought of cheering for a franchise with only four winning seasons embarrassing or something to be ashamed of, you are stupid.

A fan loves their chosen team because they can. Loving a team because they win is the sign of an emotionally fragile, juvenile bandwagoner.

2) You don't have to justify your fandom to other fan bases. They have as much to do with the successes of their chosen team as you do:

NOT A DAMN THING AT ALL.

3) You do not have to feel bad when your team loses. You had nothing to do with the outcome. If your happiness suffers more than a general bemused disappointment you are an emotional infant and should not be allowed in adult conversations. The beauty of fandom is claiming the successes (through a mental fiction) and ignoring the losses. Being an angry, bitter wreck over the outcome of a game just hurts you and your family for literally no reason at all. It doesn't make you a better fan, just an idiot.

People, it's a game. I love my Panthers when theyre great. I love them when they suck. I trash talk with other fans for the fun of it, but their retorts are insignificant barbs. I love the Panthers, but I will never allow them to make my life miserable. That's not fandom, that's sheer stupidity.

If this truth offends you, then you need to reassess your life. Just because I point out the fiction of fandom doesn't mean you have to quit being a fan; just embrace the advantages and forget the annoyances. It's your choice.

Not sure you had to go thru this entire explanation to get your point across. Maybe all you had to say was:

"If you react to Panther losses like UNC basketball fans after their losses..."

Exactly....preach it brother.

If you rage over the outcome of a spitting event, you need to do more than re-assess your life. You need to actually find one.

It is a GAME...and you have absolutely no control over the outcome.

Win or lose, my life goes on. I have a wonderful family, great job, and lots if toys. The outcome if a game dies not even come clause to the top 10 things that matter.

Congrats on being so calm and collected. JR has a prize waiting for you at will call at the next home game.

A lot of us have been around here for years before you probably even knew the panthers existed, just because we have a head on our shoulders and can think logically which is something you are clearly not capable of doing you try and take a shot at us? Quit being a idiot

when players don't show up, they will likely get criticized on the message boards. That is kind of what happens on message boards for sports teams. If you don't like reading the critics, don't log on the site.

If you want a rah-rah panthers site, make one and ban everyone who doesn't sh-t golden panther pellets and laser blue rainbows all the time. I am sure it will be a great success. Good luck.
