Locally Owned Gamer Stores

Hey guys. As I get older and mature I've grown tired of feeding Best Buy and Gamestop for overpriced merchandise. I find myself either going online or buying from small local guys. Do you guys know any great places in the Charlotte area for video games and other nerd stuff?

I buy a bunch of my stuff from Gamers Alley in Cramerton. They also have a place in Dallas. They will usually match or beat Gamestop and give better trade in value to boot. They love to deal in retro games and consoles and sell DVDs $2 each as well. Sometimes they will sell new releases for $57 instead of 60, it's not much but it shows they try to compete. They have a very limited selection of new stuff but they will order anything you want if you ask.

I just love to support entrepreneurs in the CLT area rather than reward poor customer service of the big chains. If you know of any other good spots I'd love to check em out.

Just order online from Amazon. They don't charge tax. Stick it to the man!

Not sure if there's one in Charlotte but we have a place called 'Player's Choice' near where I live. The prices always seemed like a ripoff so I stopped going there. If you're patient and frugal, the internet is the best bet.

In Charlotte there was a place I used to go to, I forget their name at the moment, but they were a gamestop-ish store but in a smaller scale, It was right before the entrance of 485 in South BLVD It was on the left hand side in that shopping center. I think a hooters was right there, next too it. it's literally next to the Verizon store in that shopping center. I can't remember the name for the life of me. I think it's something 'trade'.

You can't miss it for sure. If I can remember the name I'd tell you It will come to me. They have some cool stuff in there at times, they did when I lived in Charlotte.
