Remove the Brown and Edwards trades and we have 2 1st round picks that could be on team right now at positions of needs.

Hurney is the Obama of GMs, we are the Solyndra of NFL

Or Hurney is the GWB of GMs, and we are the world financial collapse of 2008.

Or maybe both of our last presidents were Hurney in disguise and ...

Aww, it just doesn't matter we're screwed.

Pretty good...JR's arrogance has cost this team in more ways than just Hurney's contract foibles. Quote from article says it all...

The guy who bankrolled all of these moves — the same person who has kept Hurney employed for a full decade now — is Panthers owner Jerry Richardson. Richardson is a former player held in high regard among his fellow owners around the league, but remember that he's the same guy who reportedly dismissed the likes of Drew Brees and Peyton Manning during the lockout negotiations by insulting their intelligence and asking them if they knew how to read the revenue chart. It seems ironic that an owner who doesn't trust the players to understand basic economics has entrusted his team to a general manager who doesn't seem to have a strong grasp on it, either..

That article conveniently forgets to mention that he's had more hits in the 1st round than any other GM in football during his time here.

I agree with you there, but the first round is the easiest round to find talent. Its his misses in the second and third, where you find the most bang for your buck that has really hurt us. Also his refusal to use the FA market to improve the team. All we ever sign is back up scrubs. The NFL does not sit idle, teams continue to grow and improve. We cant just sit and watch the train role by every year during FA. You look at the teams that are consistently pretty good year in and year out. It is the ability to hold on to draft picks, use them wisely, use FA market to fill needs, and do not over pay for players. This team really has a hard time doing these things for some reason.

For the nine bajillionth time: Hurney picks who the coaches want. The cap issues are on him, but the bad drafting is a tandem of the entire front office.

Barnwell usually does better homework than this.

GM is in charge of personnel. Not Rivera
