89 started screaming and cursing at Cam last night

I'm actually a little worried. Smith is like a bomb-sniffing dog. I can't think of anyone that Smitty has chewed out in the past that didn't wash out.

Namely I'm remembering him calling out Keary Colbert. But also Greg Hardy, Kris Jenkins, Josh Norman and Ken Lucas. Bad company to be listed in.

Steve doesn't have clarence to talk sideways to Cam. Cam is the heart and soul of this franchise and where he goes the Panthers go. If he wanted to talk with him, he could schedule some time with him during the coming week if he can clear it with Cam's personnel and agent. Cam is above being talked down to.

Get the fug outta here with that horseshit.

Well, apparently he is the only one with enough balls to call what he sees.

He has also earned the right to call what he sees.

We certainly don't see it in a headcoach who calls his QB 'Mr Mopeyhead'.

Newton needs a strong coach or he is never going to get it. I said preivously that his ego was writing checks that could not be cashed on the field and got called down for it.

He needs someone when he makes a stupid mistake that calls him over and says 'now, just what were you thinking there and i'll tell you what this is how you are going to do it from now for the rest of the series, quarter, game, year.

I don't see anyone doing that with this kid, no one.

That pitiable press conference and the sitting with the towel on the head that all but screams 'hey you come talk to me, I don't come talk to you' bullshit has got to stop.

I supported Newton's drafting.

I support him as the franchise QB.

I don't support him as being untouchable.

He appears to be a 6 year old in a man's body and that's not what you need for a $650 million dollar franchise.

One thing is certain in the NFL, everyone is replaceable.

If there is anyone on the team who could talk to Cam and get through, it's Smith. Steve has come a long way from where he was as a youngster and he's been to the superbowl, playoffs and he's been through a historically bad season. He's an extreme competitor and so is Cam.

I honestly think Cam has trouble getting over how bad this team can be but he's a part of it. In this league, it doesn't matter if the defense made complete scrubs look like pro bowlers, that the offensive line didn't block well enough, or that DeAngelo can't run the ball vertically, most of the crap is going to fall on him. It sucks, but it's the life of a up and coming QB on a developing team.

Cam's the face of the franchise, but theres not a chance in hell he's the heart and soul of it.

Smitty, Beason and Thomas Davis have all earned that right.

Cam isn't there yet,

Beason ain't got the current play to pull a Peppers type move at the moment.

    • I don't know about you but I have been a life long Chiefs fan for the past 4 years.
    • Sure there's a ton of transplants in Colorado now. But as far as Denver in particular goes the Broncos have also been around for 65 years. Someone moving to Denver is going to be far more likely to become a fan of the Broncos and even attend games versus someone moving to Charlotte and the Panthers. Like I said it's not just one single thing with us it's multiple factors.
    • He's definitely getting better. It's fun to watch.  I've been getting killed for this take, but with the current state of college football, it just takes more time to develop a quarterback. I don't think it's a plug and play position anymore. I'm really not sure if it ever was. NFL offenses have always been substantially more complex than the college game, and the college game has simplified even more in recent years. Many college teams do not have a physical playbook anymore. That's just not the national football league.  Are there freaks who have success from day 1? Yes, without question. But so many of those guys are runners, and so many of those guys tail off. Is Bryce ever going to be Josh Allen? Probably not.  What I am seeing is a guy with complete command of the offense. He's checking into things at the line, making adjustments, and making timely throws.  He goes to David Moore a ton, because Moore is a consistent route runner. Bryce knows where he is and when he should be open. I think the guy with the "super processor" needs to be comfortable in the offense in order to do the "super processing." He doesn't have elite arm talent, and he is small of stature, but if he makes the smart play consistently, and he's willing to throw the ball downfield and not make mistakes, like he's starting to show, he's going to be a starter for a long time in this league, and it's not a position I'd spend draft capital right now.
