And there lies your team's problem. An ego driven receiver and fans who only see QBs as workhorses for their receiver's ultimate HOF success.

No one is taking away Smith's talent but maybe his attitude has a lot to do with why he's not in the HOF. At last check, there is no "I" in team.. I guess, unless your name is Steve Smith. Maybe the Panthers need to take page out of the book of SB winning teams and realize that no one player is better than the rest of his team. You are already doomed to fail if you feel your receiver is so mighty that he has the right to treat every QB as garbage simply because he's all that in his own eyes.

As I keep saying, if it was Luck, folks wouldn't be applauding Smitty and scorning Luck and you know it.

Also, it's quite troubling seeing the seething jealousy you have towards Cam. It's more than clear why you would reward Smitty's behavior and show Cam such disrespect.

What exactly am I jealous of? I'm just calling it how I see it. And no his attitude is not why he won't reach the hall.. it's all gonna come down to his numbers, him missing 04 and a few other games over the course of his career will be the cause. Nobody said herp derp he's better than everybody.. I said he's better than a 2nd year QB. That's all , don't blow my statement out of proportion. In case you haven't noticed he's all that in every defensive coordinator in the leagues eyes which is why every DC gameplans to stop smith before anything else. What's troubling to me is im supposed to whine that cam was yelled at. He is a grown ass man. If he wants to let that upset him then he deserves every bit of failure he receives.Everything Steve told him was the truth , I know this to be true.

Here are the facts:

- Smitty and Cam both hate losing. We all know this and love this. Desire and will to win are good qualities to possess (and they both have those qualities), but it's the pure hatred of losing that pushes players to the next level. So, there is that.

- Smitty has been around a while. The man knows the ropes. He's seen a lot of players come into this league and a lot of players retire (both as successful players and as washouts). When he speaks, he's not speaking out of opinion, but out of experience.

- Cam is a young guy. He still has his baby teeth, as far as being an NFL QB. However, he only has a few of those left. By the end of this season, he will be a big boy. He needs to start acting like it. I'm not talking about post-game press conference demeanor. I'm talking on the sidelines. It's cool to go to the sideline and stay focused. Do what you have to do. However, from time to time, once you've gone over that last drive with the coaches, get up and cheer on the defense. Watch the opposing QB. And, in cases like this past Thursday, watch your backup. He's a veteran guy. He isn't the greatest QB ever, but he's good and he's a vet. He knows the NFL game. Watch and learn. Like Smitty said, mental reps.

- This sort of event where Smitty rips Cam is GOOD. It would only be bad if the two didn't already have a strong relationship. They do. I think this is evident. They get along. Cam should take it to heart, and maybe approach 89 later and apologize AND thank him. Apologize for moping while he got pulled, and thank him for setting him straight with it. Cam should grow from this. This SHOULD catapult him into the next stage of his progression as a player and, as Smith said, as a man. He has to know that even though losing sucks and should never be accepted, it happens (both in football and in life). Sure, be upset a little. However, shake that poo off quick and look ahead. You have to, or else you end up regressing.

Lou Holtz said something once that I subscribe to. Life and football are both like a flower. Every day, you're either growing or you're dying. You never stay the same. If you're not growing, you're dying. If you're not getting better, either physically or mentally (when it comes to football), you're dying. Cam is teetering that line between growing or dying. That is why Smith said what he said. He recognized it. Smith ripped him out of love, because Smith WANTS Cam to succeed.

You nut huggers have completely missed the point of Smitty's comments and the criticism on here. It had nothing to do with poor play in the field. Cam had a terrible night...poo happens. The defense had a terrible night...the coaches had a terrible night. Those things happen in the NFL.

Smitty's comments were directly related to Cam's immaturity and his sulking in the sideline when things don't go we'll. He does act like a child who sulks when he does not get his way. This is something that can be learned, but will continue to be an issue if Cam does not try to correct it.

Leadership is easy when things are going well . True leaders step up and help carry their team emotionally when things go bad. This is the lesson that Can has yet to master.i just hope he will.

Some of you are so arrogant, you seriously believe that you're team is just one good QB away from the SB.
