Fire Ron Rivera

Awesomeness!!

Recommended Posts

I can tell you that Ron is frustrated by the talent level (both physical talent and "football" talent) on the roster and by the front office response to his concerns. He told them he wasn't going to play Edwards--still on the roster. He told them he wasn't going to play Martin--still on the roster, and Ron has no choice but to keep him active. They did listen to him about Otah but in the end it didn't help. It's the front office's job to go find better players, or explain why they can't. Explanations--at least acceptable ones-- are in short supply.

I can't assess his coaching ability. I feel pretty sure he shares blame for not having the team better prepared, at least in terms of playing with more focus. I know that he is not pleased with special teams and after last night I expect Murphy is on his last legs.

Ron has been frank with Marty and JR about what he feels the needs are. I'm sure he will continue to be very candid with JR. I'm not confident JR will do anything. He is not going to change a management style that has served him well for over 50 years. He's a great boss for employees. Not so much for the people who buy the tickets. It will have to get just remarkably worse for JR to do anything with the front office.

A somewhat rational post, the day after a loss? What madness is this??

This is my first post on this board, I feel like I had to create a account for this and vent.

Yes I think it will be for the team's benefit to go their separate ways with Rivera.

After being a lifelong Panthers fan and putting up with the incompetence of Jake Delhomme, we finally have ourselves for the first time in the team's history a Franchise QB. Not only do we have a QB we have multiple weapons surrounding him, 3 Pro Bowl RBs, Pro Bowl TE, Pro Bowl WR and a some pretty good secondary receivers. The offense is no longer one-dimensional and handcuffed by the inability of the QB to read defenses and throw the ball. Defense is not great but we have to pretty good players, one of the top LB cores in the league if they can stay healthy, a good CB in Gamble, decent Safety in Godfrey, and two DE that are pretty productive; sure they're not Pep but you can blame somebody else for that catastrophe. Defense is missing a few pieces but overall they are not that bad.

What I am basically narrowing this down too is for years we didn't have the talent but we had a coach who knew how to work with what he had in Fox. Now the team has an abundance of talent and they are consistently coming out flat on both sides of the ball. There is nobody to blame for that but Ron Rivera and of course Sean McDermott. A smart coach would have pulled the plug on basing your offense on the option a long time ago. It's obvious Rivera has no clue about offensive playcalling and scheming if he thinks the option would be successful. This is the NFL not the NCAA. Carolina has somehow inversed what the team was before, from not having enough talent and a good HC to having all of the talent in the world and a terrible HC.

Now there aren't too many NFL head coaches that are competent just sitting around waiting for a phone call, mostly just coordinators who want to be HC and former HC who failed miserably in their attempts and are now back being coordinators. There is one proven coach who is still available and that is Bill Cowher. He has ties here in NC and I am pretty sure he is thinking about a comeback. Carolina would be a perfect fit.

TL;DR Team has enough talent to be a serious contender but coaching is preventing the team from taking that next step to be a powerhouse.

Anyways that is just my current thoughts.

Not going to happen, If Cowher was to come in we will go into complete rebuild mode. He will want his people and complete control of football operations.
