O-Line Gains Some Recognition

Offensive lines usually don’t get the credit they deserve.

But we’ve got an opportunity to, at least temporarily, change that, so let’s put the spotlight on Carolina’s offensive line. The Panthers are this week’s winners of the Madden Most Valuable Protectors Award. Named after Hall of Fame coach John Madden, the award is intended to recognize an offensive line that gives its quarterback strong protection and contributes to the team’s overall success.

Carolina’s offensive line did that in Sunday’s 35-27 victory over New Orleans. The Panthers had 219 yards rushing and quarterback Cam Newton was sacked just once and hit only twice.

“When you can beat a team like New Orleans, with a balanced offense of run and pass, you know you have a good offensive line,’’ Madden said.

I'm glad they were recognized for an excellent performance vs the Saints.

I also hope that O-Line keeps showing up...not the one that played the Buccaneers.

I saw Amini and Bell pancake the Saints players more than once. Amini pulled on one of Cams designed runs, and took one of the Saints LBs for a ride. It was almost like the play in the movie "The Blind Side"

Amini's performance was night and day in comparison to what we saw vs the Bucs.

He did look lightyears better to my admittedly untrained eye.

I hope that's not a fluke and he turns into a beast.

new defensive scheme with no real tape to prepare with, in less than ideal conditions.

I don't give the oline a pass for the week one game, but it's pretty clear what the issue was, despite the lemmings saying it was the coaches fault.

yeah i did, i was impressed with him pulling as well. but that is his strong point, getting him coming around the corner and getting to the next level.

Amini is learning on the fly, the further we get into the season the better he will get...

He is going to be a pro bowl player by the end of next season.
