Round 3 - Carolina Hurricanes (6) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (4)

Canes had like 4 opportunities to score a goal and didn't. Good goal tending by the Pens. Defense didn't play their best and Ward, c'mon he's gotta block that one on one shot. It was too easy. 2 goals in 2 mintues is ridiculous. Ward and the rest have to play better, especially on power plays.

Ruutu and Cole are both out and hurt. Both with Knee injuries. Damnit.

That, and the 2-minute lapse in the first period are the only things that were really bad in this game. Unfortunately, the 2 minute lapse was enough for us to lose.

Hope Ruutu and Cole are ready to go on Thursday night....

Hard to win a game win you lose two forwards. Good game by the canes. just gave up some bad goals in the first period...one was defensive and one was a great shot by Malkin. Kept crosby in check. Looking for a long series as long as we get Ruutu and Cole back. Not sure who could step in to those positions if they are out...

We beat ourselves tonight. Canes will need to get it together, and hopefully not be without Colesy and Ruutu for too long.

Pittsburgh is definitely beatable. Marc Andre Fluery had the game of his life. He'll need to be that good (lucky) for them to win the series.

Ruutu will be needed, but Cole has been invisible most of the playoffs, I really don't think we will miss him too much if he does indeed have to sit.

I disagree. What Cole has lacked in scoring he has made up for in hits and hard work. We need both Cole and Ruutu to bring the physical game to be successful this series.

Fleury will not have the same performance. If we can still split this with them on Thursday we are in good shape. We almost pulled it out. I can fault the Malkin Goal on Cam. The other 2 though... the first he made the first move and that last one... damn just close those legs... Here hoping for a full 60 min Canes game come thurday night. Go Canes!

    • I could almost bite on this one. They say the Edge is a deep class and 42 would most likely give us a good edge player. At 57 we take BPA defensive player. However, I seriously doubt NYJ would bite unless Wilson was going to hold out and demand a trade.
    • I think this “stat” or whatever you want to call it can help paint the bigger picture.  I know some here are fixated on his passing yards but when you take this “stat” into account, our lack of YAC, lack of easy completions, our WR grades, you can conclude Young is having to earn a lot of what he gets  Most here won’t watch breakdowns or all-22 so some of these throws Young is making with crazy anticipation don’t get any recognition. At the very least this “stat” is telling you he’s making some impressive throws which is what we all wanted to see
    • Perfect offseason. Trade down: Get Emeka Egbuka and additional 2nd for our 1st. Trade current second for AJ Brown.    That takes our WR corp from arguably worst in the league to possibly a top 10 unit with two moves.    2nd Round: Jack Sawyer IDC after that. If we have Egbuka, Sawyer, AJ Brown after day 1-2 I’m happy.    FA: Austin Eckler, Dre Greenlaw, Hasson Reddick These are likely low(er) cost FA with high upside. Kind of medium risk, high reward possibilities. This is also assuming Derrick Brown and Shaq can come back healthy. Which..if they can’t the defense is terrible anyway.
