Carolina Panther Inactives

Leaning towards the pass rush with Keiser over Kearse, makes sense.

Kearse is sick

The Panthers will be close to full strength today against New Orleans.

WR Steve Smith (knee) and RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle), both of whom were listed as questionable, are active and expected to play.

Smith took a shot to the knee against Tampa Bay, and was limited at practice for much of the week. Stewart has not played since twisting his ankle in the third exhibition against the Jets on Aug. 26.

DT Frank Kearse, who became sick late in the week with a bug that affected a couple of other defensive linemen, leads the Panthers' list of inactives. DE Greg Hardy, who also missed time with an illness, is active.

The other inactives: QB Jimmy Clausen, S D.J. Campbell, T Bruce Campbell, LB Kenny Onatolu, TE Ben Hartsock and G/C Mike Pollak, who has a shoulder injury.

Onatolu, one of the Panthers' top special teams players, was gone most of the week following the death of his mother.

    • Canales was brought in to fix Bryce. That was how he sold himself. He failed.  the panthers need a new qb, someone to coach him, and someone to build a defensive staff.  Canales has failed at developing a new qb. His big draft project XL is trending towards bust. His entire nfl resume before the panthers was one season as offensive coordinator on a stacked Bucs team, and being on the offensive staff when a 31 year old Geno smith finally put it all together. And he didn’t even pick his offensive coordinator. Assuming evero is gone, who’s he got in that phone to call? What low lvl porn addict evangelical from the bucs is ready to be Peter principled? There is nothing in his coaching history or his current performance that indicates he’s the person to move this team forward. Every other team knew this last cycle (panthers were only interview) and nothing has happened to change that perception   all people like you have is “well you can’t do it again it’s too soon but <random interval of time> will be different.  just pull off the bandage. There’s no reason to let this guy draft “his guy” except people wanting an excuse not to fire him after 2025.
    • Both Reich and Canales were saddled with trying to build and establish a viable scoring offense around Bryce Young. The best the offense looked this season and last season was with Andy Dalton who is also terrible but still better than Bryce Young. Which should be all anyone needs to know but still somehow there are weirdos here salivating over a ceiling of maybe on a really good day the 25th best QB in the league. We've already canned one entire staff over our first overall pick. You can fire everyone again to satisfy your need for vengeance and quickly come to the realization that your next hire will absolutely unequivocally be a downgrade yes man or you can blow up this QB room and then assess. If no progress next season then you can make changes and justifiably so.
    • Surprised this is the only post with this take.  This is like the Rhule kiss of death lol.
