I have tried reading that gobbledy-**** 3 times now and I still don't get where you came up with the fact Hurney is #12, why that's good enough, and why you failed to mention his winning percentage of 43% since 2007 which among the worst in the league.

Joseph Goebbels, Fox News, Baghdad Bob, Mike Rucker...none of these guys have anything on the misleading propaganda in the first post.

He's well paid to do this very thing.

Let me put it to you this way: I am a computer programmer, and it blows my mind how little people understand my craft and what you can or cannot do technologically. Clients all the time imagine that an entire refactoring of their codebase is a "few weeks" worth of work since, in their mind, it's just a bunch of copying and pasting. In reality, a tiny change in one part of the codebase could have unforeseen ramifications throughout the entire program.

When NASA designs their software for the space program, they have to certify that their code is 99.9999% bug-free, when the average rate of programmer error is one bug per 300 lines of code, and the average commercial program contains over 500,000 lines of code. That's over 1600 errors, yet the average person whose total extent of technical know-how involves pressing the on-switch assumes that their computer is supposed to be error-proof and read their mind and bitch non-stop otherwise.

In the same vein, a top of the line general manager has a bust rate of around 50%, meaning that a pick they make is likely to be out of the league entirely within three years over half the time.

Absolutely elite GMs only raise this percentage by a few points at most, meaning the fanbase can make wild assumptions based on 20/20 hindsight on how their GM is totally retarded when they understand nothing of the process and the inherent randomness involved in it.

This isn't Madden.

I'm sure you are fantastic at your job, but competence isn't necessarily a prerequisite to employment-something you may have even observed within your field. JR likes to keep his kind of people close to him. I also think you are assuming that having a position within a particular field implies a certain level of acumen in that field. This may or may not be the case depending on many circumstances. If everyone was well-suited for the work they are doing, there would be no firings at all. Hurney, in my opinion and for numerous reasons outside of the draft, is incompetent in his role. Morevover, we'll never reach consistent greatness as a franchise until we have a new owner, but that's a whole different conversation.

He had a top 5 offense last year. They improved the entire offense from last year. We had 1 bad game this year and all of a sudden his players dont fit?

The Defense had a ways to and has shown marked improvement with players returning from injury and new additions. 6 new starters in all and everyone appears to be an upgrade as well.

He has a 32 ranked one the year before....which allowed him the #1 overall.

That is Cam being Cam....too bad that roster was filled with holes all over it. I dont give Marty much for hitting on Peppers and Cam. With picks that high and an entire draft class to choose from.

He is decent....but the way he is building the roster post Fox....IMI shows he should of left with Fox. Building it to still play Foxball.

In My op, I stated if Hurney does not make it with Rivera then its time to move on.

If you pay attention to this team, Hurney has fielded some damn good rosters. We made nfc championship twice, superbowl once. Things went downhill after our 08 playoff meltdown and we should have made a head coach change then. Unfortunately Richardson wanted to prep for them an entire season. that 2-14 record was the worst we have seen under hurney. If you throw it out then his win percentahe jumps up 6%. Don't forget all the years where we had unfortunate injury bugs that jades our record.

Either way he's the GM for now and I think we have very good team right now. If it turns out I am wrong and we lay an egg then I will jump on the hurney hate bandwagon.

How good do you think we are right now on paper??

right now we are average on paper.could have been better if money was spent correctly and had better drafts.

That's 24 guys you listed with better records than Hurney. And that's not even counting guys who just recently took over as GM, like Reggie McKenzie who was director of player personnel for the Packers and won two Super Bowls with them before taking the head job for the Raiders this year.

And then there's this...

Cinci's GM is also the owner so he's not going to fire himself and Arizona is just retarded. In general teams don't let guys hang around as long as Hurney if they can't put together winning teams, especially when their results have been declining (try bringing up the winning % for the last 5 years).

Your post actually shows definitively that we SHOULD get a new GM, not the opposite.

You'll never convince the nut huggers and niether will the facts!

Rock N Rolla is shitting all over this thread lol. Love the changing of topics by the OP when he's been called out.

3 winning seasons out of 10.

That's all you need to know.

At the end of the season this should be a fun topic to revisit. If its fun for you that means your strengthens your argument against him but we also end up with another poo season, which sucks for everyone. Either way its a lose lose for you and the haters.

Whats more important to you being right about thinking Hurney sucks, or the team having success?

Nope. If we make the Playoffs he did his job right. But up to now, which is what we go off of, he hasn't done good enough a job as a GM. If he can turn things around, great. Until then, he's not a good GM.

If he's not a good gm, then how would he possibly fix a 2-14 team and turn them into a contender in 2 years?

So if he sucks, its impossible that we have a contender and you should go on record with that now. Otherwise admit its possible your wrong.

I'll make the first move, if we suck again this year then I am wrong. If the team is as good as I think it is then I am right.

Simple....he earned the #1 overall pick.....and to a large degree we were a one man team sitting back and watching that one man.

If Marty had a solid roster build we might of done something. But Marty didn't.

And we aren't contenders yet....

Picking Cam wasn't rocket science....
