The Players Are Rallying Around Kalil

man this fanbase has a lot of pansies in it.

team gets to feeling confident in what they are building and what they can do together and the fans go "meh, think smaller. don't open your mouth. no need to set yourself up for embarrassment." the only thing is it's the fans that are embarrassing telling the players they don't need to be setting their goals that high or don't need to be vocalizing them.

Let's say we don't win the SB this season. Is Kalil going to predict a SB win again next season? At what point does it become comical? No more SB predictions.

why not?

if that is the goal...if it's superbowl or bust, why not say it? why not put something out there and let the world know this is what you want....that you expect from yourself?

are they supposed to say, "well, i don't want to get too ahead of myself. lets set a reasonable and easily reached goal of a winning season."? meh....screw that. i want a team that is willing to lay it all out and put it on the line. that has the balls to say they can make it happen. they have to believe that every day they go out there. they have to believe it every week they play. they have to believe that they can win that lombardi, otherwise what's the point? just to provide some entertainment and earn a paycheck?

i want them saying it every year. i want them to feel confident enough in themselves that they can make that bold statement. i believe that they have the talent to get it. it's just hard to believe that this fan base has such low expectations and feels it necessary to tell the players to tap the brakes on their's.

All fans of NFL football already know that all NFL teams are setting the goal of winning the SB. To promise our fanbase the Lombardi Trophy so that the Panther players can somehow 'believe' in themselves more, or make their balls tickle, it's simply not necessary. They have all the motivation and confidence in the world, they would not have made it to the NFL without it. They are all going 100% on Sunday (well maybe not Peppers).

My expectations are that our team will do everything it's power to win every game. But I don't want smoke blown up my ass with a promise that we're going to win the SB this season. As a fan, I'm already all in with this team. And it's clear that such a promise is just fluff and not something that any player can promise, so let's skip it. The players don't need it, and I don't need it either. It becomes a little joke that the media will crack if things don't go well. If you're not already aware, the media is constantly taking a dump on our team, and this is just added ammo.

you do it because you know it increases the pressure on you. you do it because you have faith in yourself. you do it because you feel you owe it to your fanbase to let them know where your head is and how you feel about that. and you do it in spite of what the media says. you do it in spite of the doubters. you do it because you believe. is it necessary? not at all, but i'm sure not going to tell my team that they shouldn't be putting their ass on the line like that. i'm going to be backing them up just in the same way the team is. i believe because they believe.

is that belief going to make it happen? nope, but you sure aren't going to go all the way without believing you can do it. you aren't going to be king if the hill without believing you belong there.

i just have no problem with them putting it out there like that, in fact i admire them more for it because of the added risk of embarrassment. it takes a lot of balls to do that that apparently a lot of the fanbase just doesn't have, and that, again, is sad.

It is called, the Cam effect.

Fans of Cam believe we are a SB caliber team. That we have the talent to be in the conversation, is just not enough.

We are a young team. When we learn to win. We are going to be dangerous. This could be the week, or somewhere down the line. But it is going to happen.

Why not be all in from the beginning? IMO, there is plenty to gain, and nothing to lose, by being giddy over where we are headed.

And lastly, it hurts me not, that some folks think homerz are somehow, by nature or something, simply over stretching the reality. That may or may not be true. But what is true. Is that I am not missing out on anything by being all in over this team.

Sorry to be the one to break this to you. But, most fans lose their SB dreams by week 4. As a life long Lions fan, I can tell you preseason hype is not something that comes easy when you don't win very often.

So, I say, go all in now. The Panthers are going to be a dynamic team. Why not come along for the ride. Still plenty of room.

I'm a huge Panther fan. I'm all in with this team. I even follow the team closely during the offseason.

What if Kalil comes forward at the end of the season and is like "look they asked me to take out that ad just to try and increase ticket sales".

Yes, I'm sure that "retraction ad" is ready to roll at the Observer.

"Hi I'm Ryan Kalil of the Carolina Panthers. If you're reading this ad, I'm already dead."
