Hey everybody, I am going to the Panthers / giants game and am looking for a hotel. I know it is late notice and cannot find anything close. I was thinking about the airport area. What I need to know is if this area is safe and which area / road should I park on? Thanks for the Help. Go PANTHERS !!!!

I am also from out of town. Have you tried Crown Plaza on McDowell St ? It's not in the 'real close' category but is only an 8 block walk from the Huddle tailgate on 3rd St. Also, if you don't care about amenities, there is a Days Inn Charlotte City Center a few blocks up Tryon St. - cheap but clean.

Good luck.

Thanks, from what I noticed is that all the ones in walking distance are all booked up. i have been a Panthers fan ever since we got a team. I normally just drive back home to Chatham County, but it would be like 2 or 3 in the morning and don't want to wake the wife and kids.

You can stay with ME SEXY THING.

Well it depends on a few things. If you plan on being sober I would recommend grabbing a hotel around Concord. Should be plenty there because of the NASCAR track. If I've read this correct Chatham is a little south of Chapel Hill so that would get you back towards home. If you plan on drinking enough to need a cab or walk then I don't have any great advice.

If you are able bodied this is a route I like to take for a cheap parking deck. https://maps.google....ia=1,2&t=m&z=18

From this parking deck you have a half mile walk to the stadium's north gate right through all the tailgating action. However none of this is helpful if you plan to drink.

Checked into this dump about 3 in the morning..... Should have know what was going on there, they sell lube and condoms at the front desk.... checked into our room, and with in less than a minute a woman ask if she could use our restroom... I was nice and said yes, after coming out of the bathroom she said her "ride" had left and if I could drop her off somewhere... I told her no, than she ask for money..... I told her I didnt have any... than her responce was she would go DOWN on me and my roomate.... needless to say my roomate told her to get out... The room is filthy, there are mouse droppings on the furniture and in the drawers, the bathroom is disgussting, there is blood on the walls, no alarm clock or remote for the tv (which was snowy) When I checked out the guy at the front desk was on the phone and just grabbed the keys out of my hand and litterally shewed me away... had to go back in to get a receipt....

WARNING STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE , YOU TAKE LITTERALLY COULD DIE HERE !!!!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

Thanks, you are correct Chapel Hill is about 30 mins away. I am roughly 15 miles north of Sanford.

They will be having the Autofair at Charlotte Motor Speedway which starts the same day as the Giants' game, so I am not sure rooms around the Concord area will be that plentiful. I have been staying for years in the University area. The Drury Inn or Hampton are nice places there. However, it is about an 8 mile drive into town. I used to stay in Uptown until the hotels got way too expensive.

    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
