From PFT: Bucs work on filling their front office

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have continued to fill out a front office that was unexpectedly shaken up in January with the abrupt firing of coach Jon Gruden and G.M. Bruce Allen.

According to our friends at Pewter Report, the Bucs have hired Douglas Daley to be the team’s new director of football administration.

Um, who?

Daley apparently is a newbie to the football business. Per Pewter Report, his background is in commercial real estate contracts.

Moving forward, he’ll be negotiating football contracts, and he’ll also be managing the team’s salary cap.

Of course, with more than $35 million in cap space as of April 22 and next year due to unfold with no cap at all, there isn’t much “managing” to be done.

Frankly, we think that the Bucs should have hired as their contract negotiator whoever negotiated Douglas Daley’s contract.
