Camping!

I know I've asked this question in the past...but I don't care about looking it up..so I'm asking again

I've googled and of course a million different ones come up..so I need more opinions...

We've got a group going October 12th...

Hot Springs Campground looks good to me..but this other dude wants to go to Mortimer in Pisgah (he's never been there..he's just heard it's good)...I have told everyone...I really don't give a flying fug where we go as long as we're on water...I don't want to just pop a squat in the middle of some woods..I need a view...

so, give me good camping spots...on a river or creek...and give them to me now!!!

kthnxbai!

Restrictions: No alcohol is allowed.

UM...what??

If you are going to any state park/national forrest in NC - I'm pretty sure alcohol isn't permitted.

We went camping in Uwharrie like 5 years ago for a fraternity trip and we had to keep everything in solo cups just to safe. Those park rangers are weirdos and probably have nothing better to do.

It's just like drinking at IOP in Charleston. Sure, alcohol isn't allowed on the beach, but as long as you aren't an asshole, use cups, and don't have a perimeter of beer cans around your area - you probably won't get fuged with.

Most of the people who get citations/arrested in situations like this probably brought it on themselves by being assholes, oblivious to what's going on around them, or being underage.

Where I come from manners/etiquette count for something.

Alcohol is not "permitted" at any campground. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen. ;)

Exactly! Just be cool and responsible and you're probably good to go!

It's just like Alcohol isn't permitted into BOA Stadium for Panther games. Instead of enjoying those $8 beers Sunday, I'm going in with a sleeve of crown royal mini bottles. Won't be the first time and certainly won't be the last.

gotcha...it's been awhile since I went camping..I know I don't want a "family" type spot...we're not planning on being loud obnoxious assholes..but I don't want a lights out hush hush atmosphere at 10pm either....

there's a million places to go...just trying to find a cool spot..oh and we'll have dogs with us too...

I went camping up in Boone about 3 months ago and it was pretty fun. But it wasn't a "Real" campground.

When we went to Uwharrie that was completely different. Pitch dark at night and lots of noises to spook u. Not a lot of folks around, either.

It really comes down to what you want to do. Do you just want to go somewhere, park, set your tent up and get hammered with people 50 feet away from you in each direction? Or do you want to camp at a place you have to hike to and be at a place where no one can hear you scream??

haha...I definitely don't want to camp with people right up on me (on gravel) with RV's right in my face..but I don't want to hike in b/c let's face it...coolers full of beer get heavy :)...I've been to a place in pisgah that had other people camping around us..but besides the 6 or so sites that were pretty spread out...it was in the middle of nowhere.. ..sooo..it was pretty remote...I guess I want something more on the side of "no one will hear me scream"
