Marty Hurney's record when signing FAs vs. not

and ALL of them are lower tier free agents.

Both the Edwards played ok. Dwan was not as dominate as his stat card shows.

Nakamura is very pedestrian.

We didn't need another RB. Tolbert was the biggest FA signing at a position that didn't really need improvement.

Hangman looked like a UDFA rookie yesterday.

The issues with the run game started 100% with piss poor blocking from the OLine.

The Oline was like 80% responsible for this loss. Everybody says that we passed too much, but we had no luck running the ball or pass protecting. It wasn't a play selection problem. If the Oline decided to show up at any point in that game even just to do a better job in giving Cam time, Cam could've easily won this with his arm.

I liked a little bit of what I saw from Dwan, but seriously, fuging Marty, if you want to go BPA in the draft, at least find some good free agents instead of signing luxury players in FA while you're drafting for luxury. Landry looked good yesterday in the Jets game. Why does he insist on settling with mediocre talent at the safety position?

Part of me worries we are at best treading water, at worst actually going backwards. Our few bright spots from the last years of the Fox era, double trouble, smitty, gamble, gross etc. are getting older and I question if we are even going to be able to replace such players never mind replace them as well as add additional pieces around them. I seriously think we are going to have a rough few years until some more cap space opens up. By then hopefully we will have a new GM in place and we will be able to build a real winner around Cam while he's in his 20's and his prime. I don't want to watch Cammy suffer until he's in his 30's to play for a winning organization.

Exactly. Also, all the guys you mentioned above are Foxy's guys. Not a single one is Rivera's.

From the look of it, I think we actually took a step back going into the future bc of Rivera's drafts.

After Cam, the 2011 Draft can pretty much be summed up as bust. One player out of a single draft is nothing close to taking you near successful.

2012 Draft, we better hope that Kuechly and Amini were just rookies playing their first game, still getting use to the speed of the game. If we want to be set for the future, we better wish that out of the 2012 Draft, Kuechly and Amini can become legit reliable starters.

People complained about Foxy, but the man have a knack of being able to draft starters year in and year out until his last few days with guys like Brown and Clausen.

Its something with Rivera that I cant quite figure out. Its his approach to a game and everything else including the draft. With Foxy, you can always easily try and figure out what position he's going to fill in with the draft. But RR, he surprised me twice in a row. I havent been able to guess a single position right on who he'll draft to fill the team.

Hey guys, I'm brand new here from Cat scratch reader. (great site and community over there BTW) I totally agree with this thread. We should have signed Vincent Jackson instead of re signed Stewart. We have 71 million committed to the RB position. Sure signing free agents don't work out a lot of times, but you know what else doesn't work out? Drafting like dog crap after the 1st round like Hirney does.

watching the Ravens right now. such a huge disparity in talent. they are stacked with playmakers throughout their roster.

hurney has been here 11 years and we still have holes all over the place and are picking up guys off the waiver wire right before the season starts and plugging them in at starter.

no excuses at this point. find someone else FFS

You can say this about several teams, some of which were quite terrible not so long ago.

Unfortunately two of those are in our division....

better fu*king not.

we should have enough money to make a run at a top tier player if Im not mistaken.

We had plenty of money last season. We had enough money when Rogers was on the market and almost every other top tier CB that left the market. Same for WR and DT. But we did nothing.

Ravens are my 2nd favorite team. I used to be a Redskins fan before the Panthers, but if the Panthers some how moved I couldn't see myself pulling for them again. Snyder has droven that franchise into the ground. Ravens are a great organization. They can run or pass at will. Great defense. Great FO. Probably the most balanced team in the NFL.

Welcome to the board!

Just be prepared to have fun in this forum. And when I mean "fun", I mean the opposite.

We have just as much play-makers as the Ravens. Id say Smitty is still better than Boldin or Torrey Smith at this point of his career. Its just that we do not know how to utilize our players.

Give the Patriots Cam Newton and he's a guaranteed Hall of Famer. Give us Cam Newton and we want him holding hands with Dwill in the backfield for 5 seconds. And the other way around with Dwill.

I think the problem goes back to last season when they gave DeAngelo all that money when Stewart is the one that fits Chud's offense best. We would be in SUCH better shape right now if we had Stewart/Tolbert/someone else filling an actual need than DeAngelo/Stewart/Tolbert.

Make me the GM and I'll right the ship

Everyone jump on my back. I got this

guess who I'm drafting. Stud SEC players. I'm getting guys who have size, speed, and who lay lumber on fools. And I'm signing one impact FA every offseason

Not guys from Midwestern bumfug state university. and I'm not trading our 2nd rounders for 170 lb project players from App state who are inactive every week.

I mean it's not rocket surgery.
