Mike Minter Considers Running for Congress

Recommended Posts

I knew Minter was active in the community, but I've got to say I didn't see this one coming.

Former Carolina Panthers safety Mike Minter said Wednesday that he will make a decision in the next few weeks whether to challenge for the 8th District seat.

The seat is currently held by Democrat Larry Kissell, who defeated 10-year Republican incumbent Rep. Robin Hayes in November's election.

Minter spoke minutes after returning from a two-day visit to Washington where surveyed the political scene. He said he would discuss the issue with his family and pastor before deciding.

This doesn't surprise me in the slightest. For some reason Mike always struck me as the politician type - perhaps it was his locker-room demeanor and the way he handled the press. Hell, maybe he could go level a few of the boneheaded idiots that are (unfortunately) running the show right now.

It took me a while but I searched the web to see what his major was in college. I thought maybe it was business or political science. Turns out he earned his degree in engineering! I don't his political views but to be so successful in so many different areas of life says a lot about the type of man he is and I think he would be very successful as a politician.

Holy crap - do you know his platform? You'd really vote for someone not knowing at all what they would stand for? Holy crap.
