Chud Has To Stop Ignoring The Runnning Game

Get used to the Shotgun run formations, Cam's a Shotgun read-run style QB, even in the NFL. He personally asked for the Auburn style plays to be added to the playbook and they are there. A bulk of the playbook is shotgun spread offense/ pistol offense stuff from college, because that's what Cam's runs best.

Yes, but when you don't have a RB to run the zone read you have to adjust. Williams can't and didn't last year.

With a little as Tampa did...Cam could of played our of traditional sets, ran Williams, and the OL wouldn't of had a defense abuse them to that degree......and we would have most likely won.

Lazy job by Chud.

where was the swing and/or screen pass. they were blitzing like crazy buy cam some time and get deangelo in space... win win.

who was going to catch the ball? williams is not good at recieving...i honestly believe he's scared of getting hit.

from what i've seen so far, stewart is the only rb on the roster that's capable of executing what chud wants to do.

Um, Tolbert can catch screens. They threw one poor screen to him that the S sniffed out and Tolbert STILL turned it up field for a nice gain and first down.

Williams is arguenalty the best pure runner in the NFL. Not his fault Carolina wouldn't line him up and run him. He isn't a zone read RB and that is why that attempt blew up in their face.

I came here today looking for a place to post my curiosity why Tolbert wasn't clearing a path for DWill (since I can't post new threads yet...) Some of you guys beat me to it, but I was pretty amazed that Tolbert wasn't part of the gameplan. I did see one play where he looked great, then he disappeared. And I could be wrong, but I don't remember seeing him used an an actual Fullback at all... DWill needs a hole to run through and from what I've seen, Tolbert is quite up to the task!

Come on man!

We were sucker punched on offense.Tampa had a better idea of what we were doing than we did..I dont think you can put this on dwill..Chud did not tweak the game plan ....should have seen early on dwill needed a fb to run behind and Cam should have been looking for the intermediate pass.

It appeared that way but do not feel Dwil is scared.Cant put this game on him, We should have let dwil run behind a fb or hback

I think we were trying to get down field to far and not taking what the d was giving us on the intermediate routes.

Tampa's defense took us by surprise.

The reason we lost, to me, was offensive playcalling. Yes, Cam made some terrible throws into double and triple coverage that ended up getting picked. But right from the get-go the offense was looking at 2nd and long on big losses in the running game, blown screen plays, and sacks. Adjustments were made in the second half but man, when you're facing 2nd and long right out the gate, it's going to be a long Sunday.

The opposite of last year, Tampa is well coached and played with discipline. Carolina expected an easy win and came out unprepared. Just have to work that much harder for next week.

I had no issue with the LaFell pick. Prior to that play, LaFell was on the sideline asking for the ball and telling Cam what they were doing...Cam threaded it inbetween everyone and LaFell just didn't get the ball he lobbied for.

1 bad throw from Cam a game is fine.

lol the blocking simply wasn't there today

but keep on with the "herpy derp more carries equals wins" misconception

I disagree. Throwing into triple coverage is not a "misconception". It's fact. Secondly, i find it difficult to understand how ANY team in the NFL can win with 10 rushing yards. Getting that aspect of our game to improve isn't a "misconception" either.
