Chud Has To Stop Ignoring The Runnning Game

I've calmed down a bit, but this was a problem at times last season and today played a big part in us not being able to take the lead of the game

Cam can't do it by himself, especially as a rookie or sophomore

3rd quarter, we just scored a TD, got a good punt return and we're on the 41 yard line. This would be perfect time to try to establish the run or at-least slowly and efficiently score another TD. Instead we go for the big play and it turns into an INT. We had all the time in the world here

4th quarter, we have a chance to be what... down 2? Goal line, not 1 running play to Tolbert at-least

We're a very good running team and teams know that. That means even if it's not working, they're still mindful of that. Once you go desperate mode, it makes things harder

You are the 1st and might be the only person I'll pie today. I wish he would have tried to run out of a power set on that series. Or atleast been more conservative on that drive. NO!! 1st play Chud wants all or nothing.

It wasnt so much a lack of run attempts as it was poorly called plays.

Tampa sniffed out the read option early but we kept trying to go to it. Combine that with the fact that we didn't utilize the short to intermediate passing game at all and consistently went down field, it's easy to see why we didn't have any sustained drives today.

Chud used the same gameplan as last yr and the Bucs were ready for it ... they knew that QB draw was coming the whole D-line was waiting for it.

This.

Those option read runs that reinvigorated our running game mid season last year are being read way too easy. NYJ did it in the preseason and the Bucs sodomized us every time we tried it.

Agreed on all points, we need a traditional run game to establish what we are, from the very start. Take the training wheels off Cam, set up that run and subsequently play action passing.

Sprinkle in the shotgun cute poo from time to time, but pray help do not make it a base to an offensive gameplan.

I didnt want to start a whole new thread so I decided to state my case here.

We need to run the ball behind a fullback. It seems stupid to run the ball most of the time out of a single back formation. I just dont see us putting up good rushing numbers vs good DLines if we cant get an extra blocker in the back field to lead the way.

I mean Tolbert is listed has a full back, but not once can I remember DWill running a play today with Tolbert paving the way.
