Kuechly

FirstRoundPick

I'm glad to see it's not just my fellow Buc fans that overreact to one game. So Barron and David both played well in their first game and Kuechly didn't, that doesn't mean Kuechly won't be very good. Many Bucs fans wanted Kuechly in the draft. Hell, the guy that took Kuechly out of the game, Erik Lorig, many fans wanted him gone as a rookie despite the fact that he was a 7th round pick that changed from defense to offense. No one seems to have the patience to wait for the final product these days.

That just came off to me as kind of flippant, and gloating that he didn't have a great first game.

As to the rest of your comments about McClain and Fua and Edwards etc. you will have to take that up with the people that are strongly in their corner. I have some serious doubts myself, but I am not going to enter threads to say, "see, I was right, these guys are a joke". It's just a matter of style.

I'm mocking the guys who instantly said Kuechly would be the DPOY, as soon as we drafted him. If Kuechly was drafted by anyone else they would not be saying that, or if we have drafted someone else they would likely be saying DPOY for that person. It is a joke. Keuchly is good, I like him, he is talented, fact. He isn't a a physical transcendent player who will cover Graham, who we really didn't need, but I don't want to get into that again. Nothing wrong with that, but if anyone heavily embellishes his abilities beyond what reality will not likely back up, expect to be called on it.

Barron didn't have a good game.....don't let hit as a player going to the sideline after a huge play allowed fool you.

Barron was targeted 7 times, allowed 5 rec for 91 yards and a TD. Cam's QB rating was through the roof when throwing at the rookie S.

David had a good game.....Barron and Luke both had week 1 rookie games

I don't know enough about the responsibilities of the SS in the current Bucs defense to really be able to argue this. That said, the Bucs coaches were ecstatic with his play and he did have the game-saving defensive play with his diving breakup of what would have been a touchdown.

After the big hit on Steve Smith, Smith had no more catches until a 7 and 4 yarder late in the fourth quarter. There may not be a correlation, but there may be. Regardless, coaches raved about Barron + biggest defensive play of the game is good enough for me, especially since, as I said, I don't know enough about the X's and O's of the current defense to know his responsibilities.

Coaches raves about Luke all preseason....and week 1 after his first series.

Barron needs work in pass coverage. He was shaky all preseaon as it. I think he will be a stud....but for right now....teams will target him.

His hit on Smith wasn't anything IMO. Tampa have up a 30+ yard play. He hit a WR on his way out.

He had one nice pass break up. He should of had a a nice play or two as much action was going is way.

There might not be. Steve Smith is one of the toughest players in the league, so there probably isn't. Big hitters have gotten into the heads of receivers pretty much throughout football's history, though.

Yeah....but Steve Smith has proven to feed off contact. Hitting Smith after a 30 yarder isn't going to discourage him.

Issue was the next drive Cam threw a pick first play. Next drive another pick.

Yeah but the hit was after a run, not directly after the catch. And plus, it all depends on if he is targeted and what not. We didn't see him "alligator arm" or shy away from contact.

Steve Smith loves contact arguably more than any WR in the game....he hopped right up and then gave the rookie the Mutumbo finger wave.

Let's not a make a hit on a WR going out of bounds something that there is nothing to support it being
