stewart will miss opener...

the pistol is a wrinkle that is apart of the spread and Dwill did take a pitch out of it(2nd TB game i think). the zone read in which you are refering to is about Cam reading the DL and him deciding on giving it to the RB or pulling and keeping. even when Cam pitches it to Dwill it is still an option read based off what the d gives him and Cam reading.

Yes, but again that is not Williams participating in the actual READ OPTION aspect. That is the point. Williams never was a participant in the spread read part of it.

He was on the field as Stewart/Cam did the zone read and was there for the other option out of the formation. He took option pitches....and those type options play to Williams strengths.

No big deal. That plays to Stewarts strengths....which is why he did it.

but guiz our hc noes more than teh media guiz!

Rivera just didn't want to give Tampa any info on Stew's injury but I had a good feeling he'd probably be out. Good thing, too. Rest him for the juggernaut that is New Orleans next week. We can cope with Williams, Tolbert, and Newton.

why is it not? read option out of the spread could be pistol, 2 side cars(RBs on each side of QB) etc there are different formations you can run out of. option read can have 3 reads dive, QB run, or pitch. the pitch is just as much as apart of the read as the dive.

He actually didn't take a few. People just assume he did. Not worth getting into.....We debated it before and no one could show a single play of Williams doing the zone read from the spread. They confused option pitches as him being involved.

Spread read option looks were Stewarts thing. Pistol and option pitches Williams got in on....read option plays to Williams weak areas. Which is why it was all Stewart....plus that is an awkward option despite looking easy and Stewart had done it for years

We did go over this a number of times and what we are clear about is that what you call a spread read option is one option we used with Stewart since he is a good inside runner but not the only option off a spread option play. The read option is what Cam does by reading the end and deciding whether to give it to Stewart inside if the end holds outside containment or if he crashes inside then fake it to him and keep it around the end. Another option is to use Newton as the inside runner and pitch the ball to Williams around the end. A third is use Stewart and Williams together so you have 3 options to run,up the middle, through the tackles, or wide around the ends. All three are read option plays, the difference being whether the option for the quarterback is a handoff up the middle or a pitch outside. So yes we did use the read option with Williams. I don't remember using the inside belly play option that often with Williams.

If you watch this example of read option plays which Rodriguez used with Oregon and now Arizona you will note both inside power running plays and outside pitches. Both are called read option plays.

Yes can run the read option out of the pistol....BOTH RBs are not participating in the actual zone read (QB/RB) of the play.

Williams was the pitch man....after Stewart and Cam did the zone read at the line

Yes, there are other option off a zone read....a pass to Olsen, a pitch to Williams, etc.

But Cam and Stewart were the only ones doing the actual zone read component of the play....which is the base component of the look. Stewart was the only RB uses to setup he basic play....which then opens up other options.

He thinks that the read option is a particular play not a formation that you can do a number things from. Some people call the inside dive play off the read option a read option play and he doesn't realize it can be a number of plays which are distinguished by the QB reading the defensive end and then optioning off the ball to various runners or keeping it himself depending on what the end does.
