I was curious about the rushing vs passing because I remember us going heavy on the run vs TB last year. Based on the stats (see below), it was actually fairly balanced, but they gave up a lot more on the ground in the second game. It'll be interesting to see what the approach is this time.

My personal hunch is the Panthers are going to try and ground and pound with a few deep balls to keep the defense honest (classic Air Coryell style). Murphy is a speedster, so he might have a role in stretching the defense, but I suspect we are going to be more focused on the ground game tomorrow.

Game 1 vs TB last year

35 Pass attempts for 232 yards (includes Legs pass to Newton)

39 Rushing attempts for 163 yards

Game 2 vs TB last year

29 Pass attempts for 171 yards

31 Rushing attempts for 270 yards

I think we will pass to get the lead and run to keep it

you know what i absolutely LOVE? that we are having discussions over which WR is going to help out the most beside smitty...and it isn't a discussion about keary colbert and drew carter!

it's a legit discussion over two very talented and young players that each bring something different to the team. i'm not going to choose a favorite between either of them because it's in my teams interest that they both succeed and i think both are entirely capable of doing so.

and then we haven't even brought up david gettis who i'm sure will be right back in the discussion when he gets back and then we've got other young guys like joe adams and pilares who both have a good bit of potential...i'm just loving it. people may be outside looking in saying that this is a pretty poor WR corps, but all i see is a lot of upcoming young talent who are quite capable of doing well with cam throwing to them.

You have to look at it this way. Cam has more targets then Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers.
