Sure Lafell make nice catches every other game, but he can't get separation. Tell me how many games did he take over, "None". Tell me how many games did he have 5+ rec, "1".

He's not your go to guy. He's not your legit no.2 WR. All his yards came on those long nice catches here and there last year. He never had to earn those hard yards. He's invisible in most games. Lafell struggle with the no.3 cb last year, what makes you think he'll be able to constantly beat a true no.2. You're obviously just a homer.

The no.2 spot is going to constantly be a combination of Lafell and Murphy rotating in and out. I can tell you Murphy is a much better WR than Lafell though.

Separation is a really important thing to have when you're playing WR. Something Lafell lacks.

If the Buc corners press, play action is going to rip them a new asshole. Since we've had double trouble, we've averaged like 250 rushing yards a game against TB, so I don't think they can afford too much safety help. Wright will be aggressive and get pump faked out of his cleats.

Brandon LaFell: 74 rec. 1081 yards, 4 TD, (8 games started)

Reggie Wayne: 76 rec. 1061 yards, 4 TD, (15 games started)

I'm curious what Chuck thinks of that. Wayne played with Manning in his 4th and 5th seasons and still only matched LaFell who played with Cam and Clausen as rookies. Wayne was even a first round pick. I mean poo, if you're not happy with those stats from a 3rd rounder I can't imagine the hate you'd have given Wayne.

I think our biggest improvement will be on third down. LaFell, Murphy and Olsen are all strong targets for Cam.

Lets see tomorrow how LaFell does. Anything you say about him is old news. So far in preseason he has looked pretty good in the short period of time he has been in the game. I am hearing that there is a good connection between Newton and LaFell. What is nice about having a receiver going into his second year in the same offense is that he will keep getting better as he gains experience and comfort in the system. I suspect that he will be improved on last year coming out of the blocks and will only continue to show improvement throughout the year so that time the playoffs come around and we hopefully are in there, he will be a force to be reckoned with.

As for Murphy, he could be a good second wide receiver or a great third option in the slot. That is the thing with the Panthers. We don't have to have everyone hitting on all cylinders to perform. We just need for all of them to contribute in order to score points. We have enough weapons and spread things around to the extent that it hard to shut down all other options. I can't wait to see what new formations the Panthers have in store for the Bucs now that the gloves have come off and we are playing for real.

LaFell doesn't have to beat his man on every play, simple fit within the scheme and do his job

and be ready to make a big play when the defense which is still learning it's job blows a coverage on you. Or you come out in a gadget play like the throwback to Newton last year or other novel looks to confuse the defense, scattered with a pounding running game that forces them into 8 in the box giving us favorable match-ups and single coverage with at least 2 receivers.
