All Saints* players' suspensions have been overturned

They may be able to play in Week 1, but this is not over.

This is a judge in the New Orleans district that made this decision. It will be appealed to a more conservative appeals judge.....and this decision will likely be overturned.

According to PFT this was a ruling by an appeals panel and not the judge and is final.

OK, PFT just put this up...

http://profootballta...e-commissioner/

“While we agree, then, that the Commissioner had jurisdiction to discipline the Players in this case, we are uncertain that the discipline handed down was attributable, in any part, to that aspect of the Program which lies within the exclusive jurisdiction of the System Arbitrator,” Howell writes. “While we could speculate, it is not clear from the record before us whether had the distinction we draw in mind at the time he disciplined the players.”

So essentially this ruling by the panel is kicking it back to Goodell to review and re-issue "punishment" IF it's appropriate for him to do so...

The panel is apparenlty confused as to whether Goodell punished the players for violating the CBA by receiving money that isn't accounted for in their contracts or whether he punished them for the conduct of trying to injure other players... because depending on which of those things they are being punished for, Goodell may not have the authority to impose punishment.

So basically the panel said "watchu talkin' 'bout Willis?"

Meaning that, realistically, he could just reissue the suspensions with better wording.
