Well, I don't want to hijack this thread....

But Cam is the most irreplaceable guy on this O.....not Smith or Gross. Losing Cam is a much bigger blow than either of those 2. I would put Smitty as #2 in that conversation.

I agree. I think anderson would do serviceable but uhhhh... if it gets to jimmy time ever again...

I beg to differ. They're great. But they need Cam just as much if not more.

They've gotten to a superbowl and an NFC championship without Cam. in fact they did it with Jake fuging Delhomme (no disrespect, Jake was pretty damn good in his prime). granted we did have a stellar defense those years.

completely different teams and different times. Those teams were built different. That would be like saying Deion Branch was more important for NE to win than Gronk. Branch was a Superbowl MVP.

Honestly theres no way anyone could have any complaints about the team captains. We don't know what goes on in the locker room so if the Panthers votes those guys as the leaders we have and need right now then damn it those are my leaders. Can't wait to see them smash the bucs heads in on Sunday.

How can anyone on a message board have a better perspective on who should be a captain than the players themselves who are voting on it. They have decided who the leaders are based on living it every day. Seems to me that when folks like Smith get the nod, it should inform that he is a much bigger positive force in the locker room than we know, rather than inspire comments suggesting that it should be Cam or someone else. We have no basis for making that opinion and they have every basis for theirs.

If they don't think Cam is worthy of being a captain yet, there may be reasons which they won't be sharing with us.

We're only speculating what the reasons for the players chosen may have been. Some people on here clearly have their favorites and have their own opinions on who could have been the better captain, who was chosen only as a formality, or who deserves the honor more. "Don't discuss it if you don't know everything" is a pretty weak way of looking at things. Not sure why a simple discussion/arguement about the players' decisions has to lead to "Players know more, shut up."

I'm not worried about it, but I do find it a little interesting that the team doesn't find Cam as one of the big leaders on offense yet. Granted the kid is still really young and he will get there, and this is probably for the better right now. Just find it interesting.

When it comes to player's opinions they do know more about what they think then people who have no contact with them and are merely speculating. However no where did I say that people should shut up or not voice their opinion no matter how ignorant. Everyone is free to say what they wish. I wonder how many times I have to repeat that saying you don't have a clue doesn't mean you need to shut up or not express your opinion. I just find it interesting that fans are commenting on who they think the captains should be without a clue what they are talking about. Then again if knowledge of the situation were a prerequisite to voice an opinion here, this place would be blowing tumble weeds.
