Gross and smith were both on our superbowl team and both rank higher at their position than cam. Also they are both integral for Cam's success. No offense but Cam needs those guys more than they need Cam.

I beg to differ. They're great. But they need Cam just as much if not more.

Why would Cam getting a C be a joke. I get why they did it....no bigge. My preference would have simply been Gross and Cam.

Smith is an awesome WR. His behavior has been spotty overall. Rather Cam wear it personally now that our future is here with a year under his belt.

Cam isn't even close to being mature yet. He still has a lot to learn about the game. Giving him a C would be a counter-intuitive way of making him grow. It would probably backfire. Nothing worse than a kid who thinks he's accomplished/learned enough already. You must spoil your kids. Plus, we're talking about Smitty.

Well, I don't want to hijack this thread....

But Cam is the most irreplaceable guy on this O.....not Smith or Gross. Losing Cam is a much bigger blow than either of those 2. I would put Smitty as #2 in that conversation.

Team captains are not about who is the best athlete on the team....or who is more irreplacable on teh team. Team captains are typically the elder statesmen on the team that helps the team keep its focus....keeps the locker room at peace...etc. You need those guys that have been aroudn and udnerstand what it takes in the NFL for multiple seasons....not typically a rookie.

Can't we all agree that we have more Captain-worthy players than we have badges to hand out? I have no problem with the choices, and I can bet that Cam looks up to and respects Steve Smith and Jordan Gross a hell of a lot more than the other way around. Not that the vets don't respect Cam, I believe they do because he is humble, but Cam has made it clear how much he looks up to the elder statesmen who have proven their worth in this league for many years.

Maybe Cam can be hall monitor or line leader if people feel he needs an accolade, but to be serious, Cam is a sharp individual and knows where his bread is buttered - the offensive line and his perennial pro bowl WR.

My bad. It just seems like every little thing I say people want to bounce on....I probably did read that under the assumption you had a little more in it.
