My family is from New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania. I was telling my cousin the Panthers would kick his Eagles ass and his response was "the Panthers have no running game". Have you ever been in a conversation where the guy says something so dumb you sort of stop talking because there's no point?

Yeah, not a very knowledgeable fan there but I also would have to question your absolute reasoning behind the Panther's having such an easy time kicking the Eagle's ass. Feel free to list the reasons.

And for the record....Philly fans are of the most (if not the most) irrational fanbases around and I wouldn't want to have a conversation with them for the most part either.

It's simple:

-the Eagles have an offensive line coach running their defense

-Jason Peters is done

-Vick will be done by the time we play them

-I'm a Panthers fan. Why would I bend over for my cousin's 8-8 team before the season starts

My first point would be Panthers could run against the wide 9 and Cam's escapability would help limit the effectiveness of that Wide9 stuff your ex-oline coach runs when he is calling defense. Your LB'ers would bite harder on Playaction B/C of this. Also you keep Aso in zone way too much, its fuging stupid and I want them to stop.

That said the Panthers D would barely be able to touch Vick, but the LB'er corps could contain his runs. The problem would be McCoy and the WR's wrecking everything.

Will be a good game IMO.

Wide 9 vs. the Panthers run attack would defintely be a possible weakness. It definitely helps get to the QB and I think the Eagles should lead the league in sacks this year but stopping the run is still a question that I have. I am curious to see what Trent Richardson can do against it this weekend.

Aso supposedly is back to the outside for good and they are going to play a lot more physical man coverage in general. I'll believe it when I see it.

Both the Eagles and Panthers offenses are very explosive, but I am not sure the Panthers have addressed their defensive issues to be able to slow the Eagles down enough. Lots can happen between now and then though.

I am really looking forward to the game and hope both teams are relatively healthy for it. Tickets for that game cost me a small fortune!

Anyway, fug it....back to the thread topic...football is back and today is the first day that I have really cared about it. Just glad it is here.

WTF the Eagles gonna do JR if Vick doesn't stop his penchant for taking busted plays to a hard hit conclusion? I don't want to see him hurt... he's on one of my fantasy teams and I like watching him play... but he's gonna get killed if he doesn't stop that poo like he did in the pre-season Patriots game.

3 words - "Kevlar Flak Jacket". The maker of it said on ESPN he guaranteed Vick would not get hurt while wearing it. Unfortunately that only covers his ribs and is not his whole body so if you have room on your bench grab Nick Foles...guy seems legit to be able to run Reid's offense very proficiently. If Vick goes down, I seriously have faith in that guy. I swear I could QB Reid's offense.

It's not a conference thing and I don't even know where the Panthers record in the playoffs against the NFC fits into the equation

It doesn't fit but as a fan of a team with only 16 years of history it's always nice to point out to a fan of an NFC East team that we are undefeated in the playoffs against the glamour division. I've never claimed to be a good debater, I'm just a sales guy.
