You obviously missed the point. Try re-reading.

no I read that too. I was pointing it out.

People are fans of Professional team's, but they don't work for that team...no difference here.

I just really don't see the relevancy here. Between Wal-mart and a Fan. ( I think of the term fan as someone who watches all the games and goes to them if possible.) I think if your from the State you have the right to cheer for what ever team you want too as long as your a real fan.

No it doesn't. This is somebody asking you a question that you cannot answer and you dodging it..twice (and counting)

I guess I gave you too much credit carolinarolls. I thought you would be quick enough to pick up on the analogy of a popular sports program that attracts tens of thousands of bandwagon fans with no connection to a school such as UNC basketball or Ohio State Football being akin to Wal-Mart, who would generally only sell sports parapehnalia of those big institutions. The Wal-Mart fans would buy their shirts from there. Very similar to the concept of front running. Obviously, this topic must offend you quite a bit to resort once again to name calling (which again is something that you supposedly never start, right?).

The key difference being that most UNC basketball fans pick some other successful college team for football, like Ohio State, Southern Cal, Florida, etc. Why of all the teams that play in the State do you seem to find an overwhelming majority of vocal UNC basketball fans at this time? And why were they so quiet during the Matt Doherty era? Same concept applies for people who have no collection to Dallas whatsoever that are obnoxious "ride or die" Cowboy fans.

So if I buy an Ohio State Sweatshirt from anywhere but the campus book store with my student ID/alumni card I got it from Wal-Mart and thus am not allowed to wear it OR pull for the Buckeyes? Oh and the logical place that I purchases said sweatshirt was..Wal-Mart?

Am I hearing you right? Do you actually believe this?

so why the phrase then? Why the moniker if we are all free and living in a free country. You are confusing me with your evasiveness on answering some very simple questions. Maybe that is because you don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. Surprise.

Sweet dodge btw. Your third so far in two pages. Your spine must be feeling extra jelly-like today.

I'm a fan of most sports and watch them if I'm at home. Go to them if at all possible. I follow the Football team and Baseball team's as well. If I can find the games on the TV I usually watch the Lacrosse games as well.

You don't have to prove anything to anybody. Stop playing children's games with xclown. He is a waste of his own time much less anyone else's. If he could answer the softball questions he was tossed he may have a point. But he can't, so forget about it.

IMHO

Any reasonable person would have been able to draw the conclusion by now. I really have trouble believing you are this thick. The more likely reason is that you're obviously butt hurt over a term that you supposedly don't care about.

If you really are having trouble connecting the dots over the definition of a slang term, then there's a lot of help you need that I can't give to you.

Uh-oh, it's the return of the internet tough guy!! Run and hide the women and children!!

You do not fit the criteria then. Neither do people who grew up in Chapel Hill, and neither do people who went to school there.

you can't be a fan of a college team unless you have some legit connection with the school (student, former student, from that town)?

sounds pretty narrow minded.

i'll let the narrow-minded live in their small world.

can't be a panthers fan unless you live in charlotte or are a member of the organization, former player, or were otherwise formally involved with the team, i suppose.

IF it is so easy, why can't you walk us through it smarty?

another dodge! You are on a roll today. keep it up. I hear Fannie Mae is looking to hire some new executives.

You can do whatever you want. It just cheapens the experience for those who do have the aforementioned connections. I know plenty of Chapel Hill students/alumni who are embarassed at how the most vocal and obnoxious members of their fanbase are the bandwagon jumpers who were nowhere to be found during the Matt Doherty days. And that these same fans could care less about UNC football and refer to themselves as "We" when talking about a team like Florida, Southern Cal, Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc. again, with no connection to them whatsoever. Just picking whoever the front running team is at the time.

It's a bit different with pro teams. The Panthers are the only NFL franchise in the Carolinas. They also are not a team that is constantly jerked off by the media, like the Cowboys. Which is why you see a lot of Cowboys fans who know nothing about the team other than the fact that they won 5 Super Bowls. I know that if the Panthers win a Super Bowl, I'm not going to want to be associated with those kinds of fans.
