Winning it all....

03 was a ride. The canes was so unexpected for non-hockey fans (me, but I'm coming along) and the Heels in 05 and again in 09 was almost gonna be worse if they didn't win than awesome if they did (yes, I'm a huge fan).

That was an awesome ride. I hope we can get another one some season soon.

Nothing will compare to a SB win because football is head and shoulders above everything. Only a select few care for college b-ball, hockey, baseball etc. The whole world watches the SB and its win or go home. Nothing like it in sports.

Besides my High School baseball team winning 3 state titles in 4 years... no other team has won that i followed

Although it would be awesome to have a championship here in the carolina.. We have the Hurricanes and UNC...

Its a tough pill to swallow.. but i believe the Bobcats have a better chance of reaching the NBA finals next season under Coach Brown than the Panthers reaching the Super Bowl this season

*waits for all of the predictable UNC fans to show up*

that was lame...

Of course, bash the fans of a team that exists in NC who won 2 championships in 5 years... good one. =P

Being in Raleigh, it was cool that the Hurricanes won, and even though I used to follow hockey very closely years ago... I invest nothing in the sport or the team now a days..

Although I will cheer for them and love going to the games, but it's not a sport I can sit and watch at home unless it's the Canes in the playoffs...

Just lost interest once I quit playing roller hockey growing up.

This was a great topic, N1kkadeemuz... I would even rep you for it if I could. 2 much in the last 24.

If the Panthers won the Superbowl... It would have to be one of the greatest days in my life. There is a lot of good this team and FO has accomplished as well as the negative that overshadows it all to those who aren't Panther fans (even our fans to some degree)...

With that said, people love to bash the Panthers. I thoroughly enjoy debating the topic of "Panthers -vs- Another team" because when they talk about our failures, they talk about '04, '06, and '07, people fail to bring up '03, '05 and '08...

One thing to point out is there are an amount of even years we have had success and an even amount of years we have failed. None of those years we failed are because we are a team who just sucks. Who doesn't have "it". Matter of fact, for those that pay attention more closely, it shows that we do have "it". And everyone bashing the Panthers are making that their point. I beg to differ, I think you're blind if you watch and don't see the obstacles overcome. Our players have never given up, which speaks greatly to our staff for keeping their head in the game.

There are many things that can be criticized about our staff.. One of those things that you cannot criticize is when the team is healthy, we do great things... Unfortunately, it's so easy for the injuries to be ignored that they often overshadow the truth of that season where we fall short.

which, btw, you're main argument in '08 is ALL about Delhomme's choke game in the playoffs. Again, leaving out the rest of the picture where we went 12-4 that most teams wish they could have done. They fail to mention Delhomme spent all the year before on IR or that he had stiffness due to a bye week before his choke jobs. Fail to mention our running game was at the top of the league. Fail to mention our offense was one of the highest scoring last year. But yeah, we deserve no respect at all, even though our defense and offense may just be a notch above last year.

So again, if the Panthers win the Superbowl (especially in the next few years), I will know that the truth I've felt all along is the truth that everyone finally gets to see when the Panthers hold up that trophy. I will be going around to each person that tried to crucify me and bask in all our glory as Panther fans.

You can criticize our FO. You can criticize our players. but one thing you can't do, is talk poo without failing to mention very important facts... And that's why I feel my team is head and shoulders above most other teams.

Sure we don't have history like the Bears, Packers, Giants, Cowboys, etc... But with the history we do have, especially with our current FO.. Don't come at me trying to put down my team without something solid behind your argument.

You may be right on vets staying longer than they should, you may be right that Delhomme isn't elite, you may be right that we never had a true #2 after Moose left, you may be right about Pep wanting to leave, but what you aren't right about is the success we have even when we have a team decimated by injuries and the way our team comes together to battle through that.

You'll feel the passion I do even when the picture isn't looking so pretty.

Edit: all Pats fans, just go to hell... lol

2003 was a great year and if we'd have won the big game i think that would have been the tops for me. Since we did not, it's gotta be the 1985 Bears. I lived in Chicago for 30 years before moving to Charlotte in 1993. They were completely dominant. As I recall they won both playoff games as shutouts and only allowed 10 points in the SB and 7 of that was a late game touchdown that mattered not at all since the score was something like 46-3 at the time.
