Protecting Beason from himself

In fairness, Tampa pretty much beat themselves to finish last year.....opponents just finished the job by kicking their teeth in.

V Jackson, not having Blount handicap their entire offense as the only RB and a new coach should work wonders......overnight.

But Beason week 1 won't be Beason.....can't define what he can do for us off of this game. Beason probably won't look all that great...hasn't played. You don't literally take a guy off the shelf for a calendar year and insert him into a D and expect big things

Thomas Davis says hello!!!! Each season when he makes his debut, he looks like a stud all over again, does he not? I think Beason can be the same way. The only thing that worries me is his quote earlier about feeling 85%. If he's back to 100% health-wise...then I think he could jump back in and not miss a beat.

I know that extreme heat and humidity lead to muscle cramps, would this put Beason more at risk to aggravate the hammy, or non-issue?

Well I know that proper hydration vastly improves stamina. I'm sure the entire team will have plenty of fluids. Cramping, heat can lead to fatigue...we know what fatigue can do.

Hydration is vital for players with muscle injuries

Um, Davis has been working in practice and playing in preseason. He has been getting in football shape.

Beason hasn't.

Davis and Beason have probably had comparable practice time with the team. Beason had been practicing some early on until that tweaked hamstring, and Davis was held out for a large part of training camp cause of a calf issue.

Also, Davis played in ONE preseason game....and what do you think I'm referencing when I was talking about his debut? He had very limited practice time with the team until that point and he came out and played some top notch football in his FIRST GAME. He hadn't played in any preseason games up until that point, so that was his first bit of action in almost a year.

Personally, I don't like the 85% either. I would prefer he be closer to 95-100 before he starts.

As has been said. He plays all out. Keeping him fresh, or easing him in, either way sounds right. We are in a good position at his position. Use that strength to allow Beast to fully recover. Then he can go Beast out every down.

I am leery of players who are not 100%. So to me it makes sense to rein in Beast, just until he is 100%. If he is indeed practicing this week, he should be ready to go. I just expect the number of plays to be monitored. I guess the first two downs, then out in passing situations.

TL/DR 85% Beast gets situational plays. 100% Beast and we take another step up as a unit.
