Protecting Beason from himself

One play is all it takes. Beason plays like Smitty, 100%, hair-on-fire, no-holds-barred, animal. I don't think there is anything the staff can do but wind him up and let him go then we watch and hope for the best.

Staff can limit his reps....and the scenarios to a degree he is playing.

Beason last played a game week 1 of 2011....no preseason, little camp in 2012 after missing last year. He isn't ready to play a full game as a starter week 1.

Oh, no, I completely agree with your statement. I am just saying even if he was only allowed to play one play a game for the first 3 games, he is going to play that one play balls to the wall and all it takes is one play. If something is going to happen there isn't much we can do to stop it.

Didnt we beat T Bay 2x last year without Beason? I hope he isnt put in at all but allowed another week to heal up - if we cant beat these guys without Beason, our season will be a disaster anyway.

In fairness, Tampa pretty much beat themselves to finish last year.....opponents just finished the job by kicking their teeth in.

V Jackson, not having Blount handicap their entire offense as the only RB and a new coach should work wonders......overnight.

But Beason week 1 won't be Beason.....can't define what he can do for us off of this game. Beason probably won't look all that great...hasn't played. You don't literally take a guy off the shelf for a calendar year and insert him into a D and expect big things

I think, given his lack of reps in preseason, you bring him back a little slowly. Not so much because of the injury - I think that's probably well healed - but because it will take him a few quarters to really get back to his old groove. Given our many blessings at LB, we have the luxury of rotating him in and out without loosing too much in the way of production.
