One thing Newton definately has not improved on....

Donald LaFell

Seems like he still overthrows a lot of the shorter routes 2-3 yards within the line of scrimmage. Being pressure seems to make it worse, because then he reverts to throwing off of his back foot.

I'm not sure when this will get better. On any other routes he looks a lot better than last year. So I guess it's just a matter of time. I'm not sure it will go away this season though.

i haven't really noticed it enough this preseason to make an accurate generalization.

there have been quite a few drops on those short passes (tolbert's drop on that precision toss in the flats in week one comes to mind most immediately) but there's no way to really know to what extent those throws are on cam for not cutting down the velocity on lasers to non-receivers, or on the guys for dropping them.

if cam's preseason body of work is anything to go off of, he's improved in every aspect of his game. decent QBR and no interceptions.

Hard to tell if he got any better I agree. I am sure watching this preseason and all his high/off dumps he will work to improve. His accuracy in general has imrproved significantly, which is pretty impressive. Could be more chemistry as well but I love watching his medium/long throws.

Overall, I think he's looked really sharp this preseason, worlds better than a year ago.

Unlike last year, I think Chud wanted to work on the running game this ps, probably trying to avoid it's slow start last year.

We'll have a much better idea about their offensive strategy after Tampa.

Cam could put more touch on his throws sometimes... especiallyon screens. Do you guys remember when he bulleted a high pass to JStew in the flat? He could have lobbed it over the incoming blitzer.. that's the only thing I don't think Cam improved on.. short touch passes.

I kinda agree and I think that's more of a footwork issue than anything...the only thing that really bothers me about cam is his ability to fool defenses with ball fakes. I hardly ever see Cam look off defenders or pump fake at all...it almost seems like he goes with the first or second read every time. Now this could be a result of vanilla offensive schemes and routes but this is a skill that the best QB's in the league have mastered. I'd like to see more of it from Cam throughout the year.
