Lawn Care

your time

Add that all up plus do you operate on a fixed schedule where it will look nice all the time? My guess is that life happens. Either go with summer grass (zoisia, caterpillar, bermuda) and be done with it. I used to throw money after money trying to get fescue to grow. Got fed up and put zoisia sod in my back yard where we spend most of the time and I've spent zero on it. Just mow it. It chokes out other weeds as well.

If you're wanting to go with your own...I highly suggest just making due until next summer when you can get zoisia sod and put that down. Until then...just do a weed/feed, throw some fescue down with starter fertilizer to make it look good until then. You can then put out the pre-emergent out next spring. Don't spend another dime until the summer and just put the sod down. Save money now or have a buddy in the landscaping business that'll cut you a deal and you put the sod down yourself. It's really easy. Just mow down to an inch...tear up the yard (rent a tiller)...rake out rocks...have sod brought in...lay it out. Water twice a day for two weeks and it'll be the last you really have to do to it.

How do I get moisture out of my lawn?

I have a dollar weed issue and it says my lawn is too wet. I blame all the trees blocking the sun...

Cut down trees or run a french drain

I have moss in my front yard due to same, but I'm not getting rid of the trees. Might do the french drain, but I don't really care about front. It's green and full of weeds, but no one really sees that part of the yard.

Yeah I was afraid I'd have to cut down a tree. I've done french drains before but never not next to a house....this is out in the back yard. We bought the house last year and pry need to level the backyard. Pus my neighbors have dollar weed so I might get rid of mine only to see it creeping over again.

What was Zoysia per sq yard?

Can't recall. Zoysia is just one...I'd go centipede or zoysia, but it really depends on soil type, sun, acidic levels, shady, etc... Sometimes it's just cheaper to go natural area instead of throwing money at areas that have difficulty growing grass.

I disagree on the edger attachment. I returned the one I bought because it would stall out the engine very easily. An electric blower isn't a large expense either.

I have one, and while it isn't perfect, it gets the job done.

However I beefed up on the CC's when I bought it. Have to get the bigger bore.

I would prefer to have the dedicated tool, but have not got around to it yet.
