i'd rather have a kicker that will help us win.

If nobody else picks him up...1 day contract, retire with the Panthers, have a great life and thanks for everything. I love Kasay, but he's not our kicker anymore.

Morestead did the kickoffs for the Saints*. If Nortman can do that, I would at least think about it. John Kasay did so much more for the panthers than just kick field goals.

it's a new team. they need to move forward without him...and they have.

Medlock is the guy. Let's let him settle in at least before we start thinkin of other kickers please. Yes he missed 56/50 yarders on the worst kicking surface in the league. But those kicks were bombs. He will be ok

People keep bringing up the fact that a 50-yard FG would be the longest FG at the Steelers' stadium, but do people not realize Suisham (Steelers' kicker) made a 49-yarder (a whole 1 yard less), with relative ease IIRC, just that same night? So I wouldn't keep falling back on that "horrible field for kicking" excuse. Although it definitely helps to put things in perspective a bit...it's still concerning that he missed those kicks by a good margin. Suisham has been pretty mediocre for his career and it's just his 3rd season with the Steelers too. For the record though, I really like Medlock and I want the Panthers to stick with him for the long haul...just hope he gets his act together quick.

I think even now Kasay is a better overall field goal kicker than Medlock*. Signing Kasay would mean adding a specialists for kickoffs, though. I don't think Hurney or Rivera are willing to go that path again. Personally I see no problem with keeping an extra kicker. They'd certainly benefit the team more than Clausen and Edwards.

Let's hope Medlock is more reliable than Mare was. Plenty were saying it's Mare's job last season and throwing plenty of support behind him. Didn't work out so well.

missing those two long kicks in that most difficult place to kick them does not mean he doesn't have his act together.

how many 50 yarders did kasay ever kick there? how many 50 yarders has any made there? how many have tried?
