Armanti Edwards, a player with no discernible skills, has likely made the team

Just shut up SMF. This coming from a guy who has literally no idea which state Appalachian State is even in, just shut up.

I keep hearing the same six people whine about these magical Armanti homers, about a grand sum of three people who appear to only come out, from an outsiders perspective, when baited.

Armanti is on the team. It was expected by any of us paying attention that he wa probably going to be. This stupid little preteen temper tantrum your throwing makes me glad he is.

Just shut up. Nobody cares about this banner movement your apparently trying to start. I'd rather Remember Arizona.

He was able to field over 40 punts last season without mishandling one. With our offense's ability to score this is highly valuable, especially considering the dropsies that have plagued Joe Adams. We may end up needing him more for what he's already proven he can do than anything additional he may or may not bring to the table.

He actually only had to field 32 punts and ranked dead last in the league of guys that fielded at least 20 punts in 2011 in average return length. His long of 17 yards was also dead last in the league.

I actually have nothing against Armanti and am somewhat of an App fan. But you can look at any other player that's been here for the past 3 years, regardless of position or where they went to school, and Armanti had contributed less than all of them.

I have a big problem with keeping around people that do absolutely nothing to help your team year after year especially when there are better options out there.

You people keep posting the same argument over and over. I ask, why is he here? You reply "because he deserved to make the team". So it's basically, he's here because he's here. How in the hell is that an argument?

I want you or someone else to actually tell me WHY he deserved to make the team. He is the exact same player Jerald Green is, yet Jerald Green is much much faster. Hell, he didn't even flash as much as Lamont Bryant did.

As others have pointed out, if Armanti hadn't been drafted where he was with a 2nd round pick being traded for him and had come in as an UDFA, there is no chance in hell that he makes this roster. NONE.

Have you been to every practice?

Have you been in every meeting?

Have you been pouring over film with other coaches?

Then shut the fug up because you know NOTHING. "Jared Green is much much faster?" Green officially ran a 4.38 at his pro day. Armanti ran a 4.41. Armanti has also been clocked at 4.39. Are you really going to try and convince everybody that 0.03 seconds is MUCH MUCH faster? These are human beings, not search algorithms.

If AE hadn't been drafted in the 2nd he wouldn't be on the team? Everette Brown was drafted in the 2009 2nd rd after trading a 2010 1st, and he got cut before the start of 2011. But Hurney doesn't admit his mistakes... I suppose when Brown was cut, somebody must have divided by zero. Byron Bell was a UDFA and is the starting RT with Otah (1st rd pick) on the streets. How are you... I don't even... whaaaaat????

Just stop posting. Slam your fingers in a piano, a door, a fat chick's scooter, something. Whatever you do, please stop posting until you can install a filter on yourself.

He actually returned 32 punts. 9 fair catches. He didn't do anything with the ball once he got it, but he did secure the ball and usually tried to do something with it. That's a lot of progress after the 2010 season where he was miserable. Let's say we're down 4 with 1:30 left in the game and are set to receive a punt. Do you want an automatic posession for Cam Newton or do you want to risk a turnover for the chance of a PR TD?

Maybe he's plateaued, but there's no evidence of that yet. Even in the preseason he has made no PR mistakes and has shown more as a WR in terms of getting some separation and being in position to make some great plays. He has a long way to go but he improved tremendously from season 1 to 2.

We obviously took him too high in the draft for what we've gotten through two seasons, but I'm far from wanting him gone. He's not even our worst 2nd round pick currently on the team.

If you want a punt returner that literally will just field it, why not send 89 out there and tell him to fair catch it every time? He fields it cleanly every time and won't ever risk an injury either!

Also, Green has much faster football speed than Armanti in the open field. Armanti has this awkward, unsure of himself way when he's running with the ball in his hands that slows him down quite a bit.

Besides, that's yet another "strength" of Armanti's that's been filled elsewhere. If you don't think Joe Adams will be returning punts for us this year barring a fumbling epidemic, you're very much mistaken. Let's see, the top return guy in college football last year or a converted D-II QB that ranked last in the NFL last year on punt returns. Hmmm, let me think about this.

He was one of the worst if not the worst returners in the NFL last year....so how is that being spun into a positive? Bc he didn't fumble?

And our O could of used ST help last year...we needed to score more

There is absolutely no defending AE. He has no NFL skills and that's a fact. You can't talk about his PR skills because he had an historically horrible punt return average last season (5.5 yards per return!) and he may not even be the backup since Captain is much better than him (10.9 yards per return!). You can't talk about his receiving because he hasn't caught anything since drafted and everyone in front of him is much better. You can't talk about him being a backup QB because he wasn't drafted to be one and will never be one and doesn't have the skills to be one. He is just a wasted roster spot like Clausen who contributes nothing to the team.

SMF is in the right here.

That is in your opinion and clearly the people who make those decisions have a very different opinion, which is really all that matters
