Panthers acquire special teams 'ace' Colin Jones from 49ers

Nice signing. A seventh round pick is nothing but a flier anyway, you might as well pick up a guy who has shown his worth on special teams elsewhere.

By the way, for the negative nancies in here, special teams coverage isn't about the tackle numbers. The more help we can get in that area, the better...and it's not like the price is anything to be concerned about.

In fact, I'm pretty happy with our new plan of trading off 7th round draft picks for potential players. Better to get someone who you've seen play in the NFL and have a good feeling about than trying to guess which Division 2 player is going to make an impact.

I'm not saying Brian Murphy is a good coach (in fact, I think the opposite), but these guys on our team can't make a tackle...at least this guy is coming from the best defense in the NFL last season. Something tells me he'll bring a lot to that area of the game, and hopefully it will rub off on the other knuckleheads in that unit.

Lol literally every FA we signed this offseason with the exception of Tolbert was named "a great ST's ace who should absolutely turn that aspect of our team."

If you don't remember it then fine but don't act like the rest of us weren't paying attention.

Jones was a 6th rd draft choice last yr and we traded a 7th rd draft choice for him.Lokos like we moved up nd gained 1 draft choice if he pans out.

He isn't a veteran, so we would have had to hope to win a waiver claim on him. A 7th is a small price to pay for a guy you're interested in having on the team.
