Thomas Keiser was tied for the lead for sacks in the preseason with Quinton Coples?

Congrats @ThomasKeiser for being the defensive sack leader in the NFL preseason games. Great work! @Panthers http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/stats

I know Hurney mentioned Frank Alexander as possibly being our 3rd end last night, but I think Kesier has to get some serious consideration. Our top 5 DEs may be the best group in the league (CJ, Hardy, Applewhite, Keiser, Alexander) as far as depth, behind NYG.

Kieser is the type guy who makes a football team good.

Why need more of those guys. Nothing flashy....but a legit football player that makes good depth at a postion bc he can actually play.

A white Al Wallace. Now all we need to do is find a starter for him to backup across from CJ

Warning: Debbie Downer Alert.

I don't think anyone outside Carolina is going to buy the Panthers as the #1 DE corp in the NFL.

We have Charles Johnson. That's it.

We have a few hustle guys like Alexander and Keiser. But we don't stack up to other DLines.

No, based on talent, NYG is the clear cut #1. But depth AND talent 1-5, I think we give them a run for their money.

People are down on Hardy, but let's see what he does this year. If he isn't showing any progress through the midpoint of the season, then we'll need to address that then, but if he plays up to his potential, people will have to take notice this season.

Debbie Downer Alert #2.

I don't think anyone outside of Carolina is going to buy Carolina as the 2nd best DE corp outside of the NYG right now...

Philly for example....there starting 2 DEs had 29 sacks last year between the 2 of them. Minny had 30 between their 2 starters. There are several the ahead of Carolina in terms of DE depth. Those teams would also suggest they have guys who haven't maxed out their potential yet.

    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
    • 6-10 carries for  35-45 yds and 3-5 catches for 15-25 would be great.
