Clausen Has Improved

I agree that he looked good against Pittsburgh's third stringers...and he also looked good against crappy schools in his collegiate career. Clausen just never plays well when it actually matters.

Clausen looked TERRIBLE against Pittsburgh's third stringers...WHEN THEY BROUGHT PRESSURE!

It's all about the pass rush with "Jimmy". If he sees one coming, he starts fleeing and throws the ball immediately into the dirt. He sucks. He sucked last night for the same reason.

He underthrew Green and Bryant. Luckily for him Bryant bailed him out and made his weak arm look good.

It's hilarious how I got torched on this board in 2010 when the Panthers drafted this guy and I was oh so close to selling my PSLs and trying to tell the world he was a bad investment.

Uh, why is that hilarious? Do you know what hindsight is? Do you know what supporting a new QB is? I'd still 'torch' someone who doesn't support drafts picks, even if they don't turn out because it's before the fact. Not supporting a drafted QB before he even stepped on the field for us is one of the few things I consider a shitty ass fan, if a fan at all. We supported him, or most of us did, he failed and we moved on and found gold. So what? Let's move on. No one thinks that you're cool or some kind of fortune teller or the next Ghandi because you never supported him when we drafted him, get over it.

Wow, self-righteous, pompous ass much?

I'm guessing you thought Clausen was the next coming of Joe Montana, and, as evidenced by your own comment, you blindly cheer every move the organization makes. By the way, as FirstRoundPick mentioned above, the Carolina Panthers "found gold," as you put it, because of Jimmy Clausen's horrible QB play.

Blind, unwavering, lockstep worship of a sports franchise believing they can do no wrong is one of the few things I consider a shitty ass fan. If everyone is like you, there is no reason for you to post here as everyone agrees with everyone else.

I'd suggest you get over it.

If i were a rookie thrown in suddenly due to injury by the starter, chumped down and yelled at by Smitty in my first start and abandoned by the fanbase (and this forum) as a loser who will never make it in the NFL within 4 games of the start of the 2010 season..all the while being on a team run by Fox and company in a lame year contract, I'd probably be gun shy/hesitant/lacking confidence as well.

I agree he is not the answer to our team (Cam has happily and rightfully taken that position), but that said I believe that with a different team..one that perhaps gave him a tiny bit of a chance (again, folks called for his head after only 4 games in his ROOKIE season) to get some confidence and playing time, that he would be better than he is now. Sure he will likely never be great..and may never be good...but I think too many here just jump on the bandwagon of bashing the guy while forgetting or otherwise not considering how he began his career and the situation with the above and other factors in mind.

Not making excuses for the guy...but damn its as if 90% of the folks on this board are 2nd round draft picks and sporting million dollar contracts. Frankly he has a pretty sweet gig. I mean really... he doesnt have to do much other than sit in at meetings and practice a bit, stand on the sidelines all the while collecting his millions with no risk of injury, nor responsibility, When his contract his over, he can ride happily off into the sunset with a degree, a few million in the bank, and still young enough to actually start another career.

In short..hes not playing for our team anymore this season...so rather than continue to point out the faults of a 3rd string guy who is of little consequence, it might be better to stop pulling hair out over how bad he is...and just forget him.

What about former Oregon QB Darron Thomas, who for whatever reason left school a year early?

I would probably feel better about Clausen, if I heard something to the effect, that he was a film room genius, who was basically being groomed to become a coaching assistant. I.e. those who can't do teach! or in Clausen language, those who can't perform coach!
