We have to concentrate on "Defending the Den". If we can go at least 6-2 at home, we can make the playoffs. Getting a much bigger home court advantage is imperative to long term success. That's going to start with crowd noise and a lot more of it than in the past.

WEEK 1: @ Buccaneers - WIN

We blew them out twice last year; I don't have any reason to believe we can't win this one. That said, they are improved, IMO. Still, we should win this if we show up to play.

WEEK 2: Saints** - LOSS

We lucked out and got them at home early in the year when they'll likely still be adjusting to missing some of their defensive players and to the interim coaching. Still, with our defense (secondary especially) still struggling, I have a sense Brees is going to light us up.

WEEK 3: Giants (TNF) - LOSS

I think we can play them tough, but in the end I just can't give us a win over the defending champs. Likely a loss, though hopefully we're at least competitive.

WEEK 4: @ Falcons - LOSS

I see us splitting with the Falcons and since they're better at home I'm going to say this is the game we lose.

WEEK 5: Seahawks - WIN

I think the Seahawks will be tougher than most people expect this year. Still, since we're playing them at home and they have to make that long-ass trip, I give us the edge.

WEEK 6: Bye

Hopefully we can get to this point with minimal injuries and with a win against Seattle to give us some momentum after three straight losses to the Saints**, Giants, and Falcons. I'd be happy with 2-4 at this point in the season as long as we're competitive. I feel like the next stretch of games is more winnable.

WEEK 7: Cowboys - WIN

I feel like we match up well enough with them. It'll be close likely, but I think we pull it out if we show up to play.

WEEK 8: @ Bears - LOSS

I feel like the Bears will be one of the best teams in the NFC this year and considering we play them in Chicago, I'll say we lose this one.

WEEK 9: @ Redskins - WIN

We beat them last year solidly, but the wild card here is RG3. Still, I like our chances in this one.

WEEK 10: Broncos - LOSS

This one is the toughest to call since the Broncos have so many variables that could affect how good/bad they are. John Fox teams tend to be inconsistent at times, so there's always a chance. If Manning is playing well and healthy they could beat us, but I feel like it'll be close either way. I'll be conservative here and say we lose this one.

WEEK 11: Bucs - WIN

If we can beat them in Tampa week 1, we should be able to handle them at home here.

WEEK 12: @ Eagles - WIN

Another tough game to call. Will Vick be healthy? Will their defense be any better? All in all, I think we matchup well with them and can win this game, though. Have to stop McCoy here.

WEEK 13: @ Chiefs - WIN

This one gives me pause since it's in KC and that's a tough place to play. I think we're the better team, though, and they have QB issues and have played like poo in preseason. We should take this one.

WEEK 14: Falcons - WIN

We came so close to beating them in Charlotte last year, but blew a big halftime lead. I've said all along I think we split with them this year and I have us down for a loss earlier in the season.

WEEK 15: @ Chargers - WIN

I really think Norv Turner will be either gone or well on his way out by this point. I don't expect the Chargers to be very good, though Rivers is always a threat. Still, I like our chances here.

WEEK 16: Raiders - WIN

Oakland could be one of the worst teams in football next year. We play them in Charlotte, which is a tough trip for a west coast team. Like our chances here.

WEEK 17: @ Saints** - LOSS

I hate this game. We'll likely need to win to make the playoffs - or possibly contend for a division title - but the Saints** might be just as desperate after a slow start to the season and be contending for a wild card spot. I don't feel very good about this one. Hopefully we can lock up a playoff berth even

with a loss here.

FINAL RECORD: 10-6, though 9-7 is certainly a possibility and 8-8 could be on the horizon if we struggle with consistency, Cam has a sophomore slump, or we have injury issues.

I could live with that but, to be honest, the Chargers and Dallas games are more than winnable.

agreed, but when a game is more than winnable does that mean it's dominateable? what would you call that?

anyway, interesting that they have us going what, 4-1 into the bye? not too shabby. split with the Saints* and falcons and sweep the bucs. i've been saying that for a while....not that it provides me or that prediction any more validity. just interesting.
