Shopping For TVs on Craigslist

trying to buy/sell musical instruments on CL can be awful too.

half of the listings are obvious "well i bought my son this here starter guitar for $250 at guitar center because he wanted to get laid playing wonderwall. better list it at $300 since he quit after a week" trash. there are a few gems but you have to wade through a mountain of poo to find them.

i was trying to sell a hardly used twin reverb reissue on that site (a $1250 amp new and i was asking like $750) and i had people emailing me offering to trade straight up for $300 amps and poo. it sucks that ebay's seller protection policy is so heavily biased in favor of buyers now because it's either that or the electronic yardsale going on at craigslist if you actually want to sell anything.

I have looked on CL for TV's and you got to hand it to these folks, they are certainly optomistic about their items value.

I like when they say '32" flat screen' and when you get to their house you find out that it is a Tube televison, with a flat piece of glass in the front instead of the big bubble those things used to have.

My advise, get a refurb on ebay.

I got a killer 32" Vizio LED for above my treadmill for $100 w/ free shipping because it has one stuck pixel.

I had one exactly like that...top of the line Sony....12 years ago. I put an ad under "Free" on CL and within 30 seconds, literally, I had ten emails. This scrawny looking dudes and a fat chick from Kentucky came, lugged it outside and crammed it into the trunk of their Taurus, and off they went. Buh bye.

Ive tried selling tires on clist, brand new for 60% of what they cost in store with no luck. I have no problem on ebay, but shipping and their cut is a bitch!!!

I mostly get fake emails asking about "the item", but got one good one that made me waste my evening going to my storage and taking pictures and then...

"i very much enjoy these however at present time i am around church camp with no access to cash please provide address to mail check. I will provide what amounts to 30.00 extra to provide for shipping with my delivery company" wtf craig!!!!!

I get this every single time I put something on CL. That's why I don't use it anymore. Out of maybe 25 items I've posted, I've only had one "hit" where I was packing up my aquarium to move and had to give away my fish.

I'm telling you man... It's like all of the weirdos from the personals section crept over into the 'for sale' section and took it over. It wasn't like that a few years back.

I don't go anywhere on that site but the 'for sale' section, but my best friend has some hall of fame stories about his experiences with meeting women off of CL.

Another thing, like I posted in the quote above, I don't know how many people insisted on coming to my house when I was selling that bike. When did that become the norm? I don't want strangers knowing where I live and whatnot. They don't even ask, they just say "Give me your address, I'll call on my way." Uhh, no.

It's the shows now like American pickers and pawn stars that have everybody thinking that they are professional barterers and they want to haggle to the point where it's fuging rediculous

I bought a nice chair on craigslist for 25 bucks. Great for watching football but a rare find. Most people think their stuff is worth hundreds of bucks.

I've looked at TVs on there. It seems like all of them are "just one year old". Yeah everybody loves selling one year old TVs they hardly ever used.... I read one listing where a girl gave a sob story about how she was dying of cancer and all she wanted was an iphone. Basically an LED 32" tv would need to be under 50 for me to take the craigslist risk.

I had a pretty advanced phishing email where the guy asked if i could give him my paypal information. He assured me he was a wonderful person and "God Bless you I am a most honorable man".

    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
    • 6-10 carries for  35-45 yds and 3-5 catches for 15-25 would be great.
