It was Mare's job to lose and he hasn't lost it... Medlock is as good as gone.

Mare didn't lose the job, but I do think Medlock 'won it'. Both kickers have kicked 100% accuracy in the 3 preseason games. However, Medlock has had the longer FG attempts and has been deadly. Mare has the stronger kickoff leg, but we can't afford to lose Medlocks (approx. 5 yard) range difference on FGs.

I figure Mare's range is about 48, and Medlock is 53.

If the coverage holds up on kickoffs, I don't see why you don't go with Medlock. You're risking giving up 7 on a kickoff, but how many points could we be losing if we keep Mare due to missed FGs and having to punt because he can't reach the goalposts?

Also wanted to ask anyone that has been to a game so far... Is it that Medlock's kickoffs are just "short" or are they short because they have more hangtime? If it's because he's kicking it higher than he should be the guy regardless because it simply means our coverage sucks either way.

Cut the jimmeh and keep both kickers. One for FGs and one for kick offs

It's why I put no credence into anything our media says. We had Reed or whoever saying that Medlock had a noticably stronger leg yet he can't kick off for shiit. I just didn't see Medlock distinguish himself in any way.

Medlock most definitely has a stronger leg when it comes to field goals. Mare has a better leg when it comes to kickoffs, but he couldn't hit a 50+ FG to save his life....it'll all come down to which the staff thinks is more important.

I'd hate using two roster spots for Ks, but that is infallible. Jimmeh is just wasting a roster spot regardless, lol.

Keep Armanti as a utility man - 3rd QB, 6th WR, 2nd PR/KR, cut Pickles, and keep both Ks.

Idk, I get the feeling that Medlock is going to be on a lot of short lists this year if we let him go because so many other teams are going with unproven guys or are currently having a kicker battle with two guys they don't really trust (Jets, Ravens, etc.).

Over/Under on Gettis getting cut? I've wondered since the Louis Murphy acquisition if Gettis will even be given a chance again. He looked great in 2010 but similar to Otah...if he can't get on the field you gotta cut him loose.
