Olsen....

Olsen will catch it when they throw to him, just like he did, no worries... I dont need to see him do a lot as long as he does that, kinda like Smitty. I know hes going to show up and play when hes needed. If he didnt make those catches last night, then Id stress a bit. But he was solid when called upon...

Olsen doesn't decide how many times the QB will look his way. Hell, on several of our plays we were throwing it to wide receivers that weren't even open (Tutu) to see what they could show us. You're upset that he didn't end the day with 10 catches for 100+ yards? It's pretty hard to have that kind of production when we spent the first half doing nothing but testing the run blocking and evaluating receivers on the cut line. He caught everything that was thrown to him. He didn't even have any glaring mistakes. Pretty unreasonable time to call him out. I think he played very well.

I thought olsen looked really good. Murphy showed some ability, Lafell looks poised to get at least 900+ yard and 6+ tds in this offense. I thought tutu looked like total garbage. he has very sluggish cuts that appear to be "round". for instance on that one comeback that nearly got picked, tutu ran a semi circle rather than planting his right foot and twisting his torso. A stronger cut and theres no way cromartie gets his hands on the ball like that.

the only other thing i didn't like concerning the receivers was pilares returns. he brought a couple out deep in the endzone and got tackled before the 20.

Not to hijack thread, but did Tutu lock up a spot or go the other direction last night?

He was bad but not bad enough to lose a spot on the team given how much the staff favors SD guys

Murphy is definitely ahead of him though and Pilares showed some decent route running which was surprising

And yeah, Olsen was fine and dandy last night. He's looking great. I expect a lot of 5-7 reception games from him this season...maybe more depending on how we spread things out this year.

Yup, it was 3 first downs. One for 14 yards, another for 13, and the last one for 2 yards.

OP, try not to start drinking 4 hours before the game.

That's fantastic, especially since we didn't have Smith and the safeties could help the linebackers on him.

The Panthers were 7/13 on 3rd down. Lafell had two I think, so Olsen and LaFell made up 5 of the Panthers' seven 3rd down conversions. Those two are going to be our chain movers.

If Tutu were any good, or if Murphy had been starting I think we could have converted more 3rd downs.
