Kuechly may be the best defensive player on the team already.

Kuechly has the potential to be better than Beason, he's already better in coverage. Beason is an amazing talent, and this isn't a knock on him at all, but Kuechly can be a once in a generation player.

At no point during my post did I question Kuechly's potention. I said that Beason is our best defensive player and he is. Kuechly will improve and that's scary good considering where he is right now, but there is no way that I'd say that as of right now, he is better than beason because he's not! Beason is not only the better of the two, Beason is the heart and soul of our defense. His presence on the field is something I would never even think of replacing with a Rookie or ever say that a Rookie is better than someone that brings so much to our team and has done from his rookie year. Kuechly will continue to grow by watching the best defensive player on the team, Jon Beason.

not sure he will ever be the type leader Beason is.....

But I think overall he will be the best LB on the team by the end of the season. Beason will be the leader but outside of hitting harder Luke at least projects a little better in all other aspects....I expect him to be that guy.

MLB will be Luke's next year. Gives Luke even more room and ability to use his instincts to make plays. Beason needs to be used in more of a thumper role.

This is why Beast will be in the middle for atleast the next 3 years if healthy

He made so many amazing plays over the course of preseason, and especially last night with the extended amount of PT. But, for some reason, the one that really stood out to me last night was where he was basically the only guy to break through on a run down in the red zone to his right, the runner (may have been Greene) shook him off, but Kuechly forced him to redirect... The runner cut back and tried to run back around the left side (defense's perspective) and Kuechly got up from the missed tackle ran him down on that side and finished him off before he could gain anything.

Unbelievable.

He moves through traffic like a Barry Sanders LB monster.

I still don't like that he does not have that killer mind set. I saw on one play where he had a chance to blow up the RB and he let up and the guy got an extra yard on the play. His nose for the ball is uncanny but he does not like to destroy players.

That is what I like best about him. He knows how to tackle and very few players these days know how to bring a guy down instead of trying to make the big hit. He reminds me of a rugby tackler which think is a great thing.

Its very hard for me to disagree with this, i really enjoyed just watching him play and make tackles. Beason is my guy, but i am leaning more towards Keek being the better player down the road, he just looks he was born to play linebacker. He just pops out of the screen so much for being a linebacker, they were talking about him the whole second quarter thats how you know you have special player if they do that from a position thats not emphasized as much as others.

Different styles. Luke will likely never lead in the manner Beason does.....

Beason's leadership isnt going to keep Luke from MLB if Luke turns out to be what he projects. I still don't think people realize how good Luke has the potential to be.....but will after this season.

Just want to add...If Thomas Davis can somehow get back to 2009 form before his injury, he would become our best defensive player

Ordered a Kuechly jersey last night though!!

Im bout to order mine, i was gonna wait till regular season but fug it. Now Im sure as hell he is gonna dominate this year.

I personally liked the play where he missed the initial tackle got back up and STILL made the tackle on the RB. That's tells you a lot about him. You can't teach that kind of hustle.

That play alone shows us what we've got in Kuechly. Like this guy named Lombardi once said, "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up." (and what you do afterwards)
