Smitty's foot infection

Can't decide if you are a total dick, smart ass, comedian or simpleton. Regardless, those that you are insulting are your fellow brothers on this board (Panthers fans).

I am confused with your approach.

You attempt to present yourself as an intellectual elder but it is apparent to all that what you seek is confrontation for kicks.

Calm the fug down.

you end THIS response by telling ME to calm the fug down? you are a joke.

If I had a Pro Bowl Receiver and LBer and a rash of injuries in preseason in the past I believe I would give them a rest too!!!

They will be back for regular season and if not,we gonna win any way, cause our Pro Bowl Center said so!!! End of story!

Go Panthers!!!

Key to getting rid of a staph infection is toile sure you treat it FULLY and ensure that it is completely gone before stopping the antibiotics. Otherwise, it was mutate and be immune to many antibiotics.

It takes some time, but he should be perfectly fine.

Has it even been verified that it is a staph infection? I've seen that thrown around on here, but have yet to see any of the more reliable outlets discuss exactly what kind of infection it is.

mort was calling it a staph infection but i haven't seen anyone else reporting it as that...unless they are just running with what mort said.

Best case it is a common staph infection and heals in a few days. Or it could be MRSA and will take more exotic antibiotics and take up to a week to heal. In either case he will be good by mid next week. Infections on the skin caught early rarely take a long time to heal. Most of the bad ones are post surgery infections which spread internally and are hard to stop based on what I read.

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on tv. But I have been around this stuff a great deal. I know, lucky me. If, it is just an iflamation, and it was caught early, it is a step above athletes foot. Irritating as hellz, but no where near fatal. Never lost a friend, or teammate, to a bad case of athletes foot.

If I am correct. The reason he was on crutches was because his foot had been wrapped. It is like a cast for the first two days. Then it comes off, infection gets examined and if it is on target. Salve and antibiotics for two weeks. He should be back after the Pitt game. Knowing Smitty, it will be for the first quarter of that game. Keep in salved up to prevent dryness, and pills to kill the bacteria. Good to go in two weeks.

Probably could edit that better. Just tired of trying.

As an aside. At 57, I got my first case of athletes foot just last week. Coinky dinky?

Smith missed practice for a second consecutive day Thursday, although coach Ron Rivera said Smith’s foot had improved following a round of antibiotics.

Rivera said the Panthers will decide Friday whether Smith will play in Sunday’s exhibition against the New York Jets. But Rivera indicated the teams plans to be cautious.

“Putting him out there right now in this situation and circumstances would not be smart, especially if he doesn’t get any practice reps in terms of what we do,” Rivera said. “This is really a game-plan week. We’re approaching this week as if we would any regular-season game. … To put a guy out there when he hasn’t had a chance to get those reps would be careless.”

Since we're all beating this to death, I'll add one more thought...

We all love Smitty and know what he means to the team, but he has always been a little bit of a drama queen. It usually is something like this (last year it was his cut hand), and seems to happen just about every year in camp. Maybe the doc tells him to stay off his foot as much as possible, and in his own inimitable way, Steve decides to make a public appearance on crutches.

Panther nation goes into panic mode, we are all reminded of how important Steve is, he makes a nice recovery, and goes on to be the beast on the field we have come to expect.

Think I'm making all this up? One of our beat guys (probably Gantt) talked about this last year. Steve's got a little diva in him.
