WR'S will have good test Sunday Night

The Jets are a perfect test for our offense. They have the personnel to run "big nickel" to stop the hybrid game on those second downs and they have the secondary to make every throw a tough one. We haven't seen any complicated offensive plays from the Panthers this pre-season for good reason. I don't expect a "kitchen sink" approach this week either. To me this game is about execution. I want to see off tackle runs for gains of 4+. I want to see effective screens and solid throws in the crossing routes to Olsen and Lafell. I want to see good option plays on 1st down and no more than 3 deep passes to whomever lines up in the X.

Like the Dolphins game, I'm only interested in the first half. I know we don't currently have the depth to close this game out, and I'm certainly OK with that. I don't want our starters playing more than they have to as the pre-season injury bug has been in full effect this weekend so far.

Let's test the first stringers and get their blood pumping for the season without giving the rest of the league too much tape to work from. Then put in the reserves and let them get their noses bloody. I'd love to win this game, but in a few weeks I won't care about the outcome regardless.

I just don't want to see JimmyC to take the field for us, ever again!

Another thing I would like to add. Since the Monday after the Texans game when Rivera lit into the team, they have responded. Going to pique my interest this week to see if that intesity is still there. I am saying yes. This team got it. The light went on sort of thing.

The future started last week, and is on a headlong collision course with destiny.

The Jets are a good team.....that is why this board will have a mini breakdown following the game. Some have convinced themelves we are a juggernaut even without Smitty and the Jets suck.

NYJ have gone 9-7, 11-5, 8-8 under Ryan WITH a pooty offense.

They had a top 5 D last year....and thus far in the preseaon that D looks just as good. yeah, they don't run as good as they did.....but we also don't have a top tier D.

should be a good battle....not a beat down.

I could not agree more. The Jets are a good team. Well guess what? So are we.

Our Offense can/will score points. Even on the Jets. It is totally possible we are going to score quite a few more points than the Jets. Starter wise. Even without Smitty. (This is not Jake's Pantherz)

Our D is up for this test. They have responded well to Rivera's tongue lashing after that lack luster loss to the Texans. There is no reason to believe they cannot continue to play inspired football.

I know I am beating a dead horse with you. But... I am up for the challenge. We were competitive last year. We have made numerous improvements since then. This is not last years Pantherz.

As a life long Lions fan I can understand your reluctance to putting yourself behind our D. Too many times the expectations were never met. I will promise you this. This is the last year you will be able to hold onto that innocence. Cuz after this year. We will be expecting success, not hoping for it.

Hot damm, got myself excited. And GOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
