I thought the same thing, but how many DTs are hard to draft and take time to mature. The first rounders usually take a few years; people like Dorsey, Ellis, etc. are just hitting their stride and they were first rounders.

You do not throw out the stew before it is done because you are afraid it may not taste good. RR knew we had a veteran run stuffer coming off IR and he knew that we had 4 young, developing DTs. Adding a new young, developing DT would not help us much. Even Kris Jenkins did little to impress his rookie season.

And that forces you to have to cut a developing player. I think RR likes Kearse and Kalil made some comments about how good Fua will be. McClain has shown some signs. Neblett has been decent. Who do you cut?

This is probably Edwards' last season. His contract goes way up next year. I imagine we expect FUA to be ready for prime time by then. I also think we will draft a NT or sign one on the cheap.

DTs are hard to draft for some reason. They have a very high bust rate.

i'm not a fan of drafting DTs that you expect to start...even in the first round. they have way too high a bust rate and they take too long to develop, imo.

this is one area i think we'd be better off going FA or even trading for one.

this is a huge need, tho, and one that i actually wanted us to address in the first round or two just based on need but i'm glad we didn't because i don't think it would have paid off anywhere close to the way kuechly will.

I do not know where DTs come from, they just appear. I agree 100%. I think it is a huge need (or question mark), but if we get 2 of our 4 young guys to step up---and hey, I am not going to second guess Rivera after our last 2 drafts. He sees something in our young DTs or we would have gone after a few. I think we will address DT after cuts or through a trade if McClain and Fua are not there yet.

One good thing about our team is this--our offense will be improved (Cam improved, Lafell, Tolbert) because we know the system better. We are going to score. Our defense is also improved. I think we should be playing with the lead more often, taking pressure off the DTs to stop the run.

Teams will have to throw against us as our O racks up points fast. Hope our secondary can

stand the strain that used to be on our D-line.

How did Tenn get lucky?

One main reason may be the fact that they have been at it for a while now. They are also an organization that does things by the numbers. So they usually have all their picks. Cannot discount the coaching staff. That tree is growing fast.

True we as a team have been around long enough that one would believe they have a plan. They did, and do. Kinda got away from it for a while there. But, there is no denying we are back on the right track.

Good newz. We are potentially, one very good team as of now. By year three of Rivera, the potential tag will have been ripped the fug off.

Bad newz. Potential means absolutely squat. We very well could struggle this year on the defensive side, I don't see it. So the bad newz is a rather low level concern for me.

I fully expect this team to perform well. Both Offensively, and Defensively. Making our chances for a playoff berth readily within our grasp. Homerz unite!

Rivera has a proven track record. That is the only history I care about!
