Trouble Connecting MacBook Pro to Sony Bravia HDTV

So, I recently purchased a 32" Sony Bravia HDTV and planned on being able to hookup my MacBook Pro to the TV so I could display the laptop onto the screen of the television. I also got a Belkin mini display port to HDMI adapter that is now connecting my MacBook to my TV via HDMI input 1. However, when I click the input button on my TV's remote, only TV, PC, and USB is able to be clicked on while HDMI 1 and 2, video, and component are all greyed out and unable to be selected.

How can I change this so I can select HDMI1?

Also, I've read and watched numerous tutorials on connecting a MacBook to an HDTV. They all say to click the apple menu, system preferences, displays, and then "arrangements." However, arrangements doesn't show up and I get a message saying "The Arrangement tab of Displays preferences is hidden because you only have a single display attached to this computer." I'm not sure if this is directly related to not being able to select HDMI under the inputs on my TV's input menu, but I am starting to get frustrated. If arrangements shows up, I know I just have to check the "mirror displays" box and it should be up and working.

If anyone could provide any insight or ways to troubleshoot this problem it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Your macbook isn't pushing a signal that's why your HDMI input is grayed out. When there is a signal going into the input it will be selectable. I don't know a whole lot about macbooks because apple is teh sux but that's why it's not working for you. The issue is on your computer side and not the TV.
