I was a big fish in a small pond type athlete. Played SS and lead off, and played point guard. Thought I was pretty good, until college came not a calling. So I know how hard you have to work to still fail. Which makes how hard players like Cam, or RJ Stanford, have to work, to make a living playing football seem legendary.

I hate to say it, but when I was growing up players still had offseason jobs. And TC and preseason were used to get back INTO shape. Weight training was thought to hinder playing ability, so few players were workout warriors. The draft was 4 days and 17 rounds, and the average rookie salary was around $10K. There was no such thing as a FA, and the only way to get invited to a camp was to know someone. UDFA, no such player. Contracts were usually on a one year basis, and if you got hurt, fug.

Back when men were men, and the sheep were skittish.

as someone who's never played organized football, i forget literally everything all the time.

like i'll go to the kitchen to get a pencil or something and by the time i get there i forgot why i walked into the kitchen.

It's bad enough you keep pencils in the kitchen... Haha
