Jimmel Kimmel to going against Leno & Letterman next year

Jimmy Kimmel will jump to the big stage in late-night television in January, moving to 11:35 p.m., where he will take on the two titans of that time slot, David Letterman and Jay Leno.

ABC announced the move Tuesday, framing it as a bold effort to seize leadership in late-night entertainment.

ABC has touted its leadership in ratings over both Mr. Letterman on CBS and Mr. Leno on NBC’s Tonight” show, but that has been with the news program “Nightline.” ABC’s management has for years tried to replace that program with an entertainment show because of the possibility to increase revenue in the time period.

I'm one of the few people I know that does watch the late night shows on occasion, but I absolutely love Kimmel's show. Anyone else watch?

I catch his stuff every once and a while. I prefer furgason though. Leno is an idiot. Lettermen is a fuging idiot too. I don't like either of them so I'm hoping Kimmel kills them in the ratings.

I'm a Kimmel fan and def think he can make a splash in the new time slot. Leno is a hack and letterman is just a goofy old man who isn't really that funny. Don't watch late night as much anymore though

I like Fallon too, and I hate I didn't get to meet him when I went to NYC. We were supposed to tour his studio but he was filming. The tour guide said she knew him and he was a nice dude.

Kimmel is my favorite of them all, though I don't really watch any of them often.

Late night is boring. They make the same jokes over and over about the same boring news stories. If you go online you'll find funnier comments on the news just by reading and posting on forums.

not really. Kimmel and Fallon are pretty well in touch with today's generation.
