Maybe it wasn't clear, but that's why I made the comment to make the refs full-time. I was talking about the regular officials.

Thats actually one of the the reasons the nflra is holding out. They WANT to b part time and still make money at their lawyer jobs.

The nfl needs to double their salary from 144k to 288k however if they want them full time. It would still be peanuts for what the nfl is making a year. Currently, the nfl is proposing only a 11 to 15 percent raise in exchange for full time.

Exactly. How much money is the NFL quibbling over anyway? You could double the salaries of the refs and ti wouldn't be worth the bickering they are doing.

I read it was about $100k per team.

Clearly this isn't going to happen and was a strategic "leak" by the NFL to gain bargaining power over the officials. My guess is they want to scare the officials into thinking they can be replaced.

Let's put it this way. If this was to happen. The players and NFLPA would go back on strike the moment it happens. Because having 1 official on the field would endanger the live of players a whole lot more then it is now. NFL needs to stop be cheap and pay the refs and get it over with. For God Sakes man. Stop been cheap.

How in the world would it endanger the lives of players?! If anything, it would make it safer by being stricter with the rules. The first year or so there might be an annoying increase in penalties, but players and coaches would adapt and instead of penalties going unnoticed, fewer penalties would be committed because the eye in the sky is watching you.
